One of my favorite styles


Pantagathus

Both Greeks & Carthaginians used the man on the dolphin motif.

 

This one I believe was Carthaginian as usually the horse on the front is a giveaway.

Is this Amphion by any chance? (on the dolphin of course)

 

From what I've come to gather, it really depended on where the coin originated from. In many cases of the western Greek colonies, it was often meant to be their eponimous founder.

 

In this case I honestly do not know.

 

The craftsmanship is exquisite.
