What a beautiful city! I noticed from the video that there appears to be a lot of places that are car-free and great for pedestrian strolling. I think our own Times Square and Herald Square in New York City are vastly improved since they've been recently made into pedestrian areas.
I truly hadn't heard of the Mecer Quality of Living global city rankings before. Hmmm... New York City isn't #1 on that list??? Hmmm....

Mmmm! Charcoal grilling can't be beat! Did you catch those fish yourself, Viggen? Do you guys over in Austria ever roast corn on the cob?
-- Nephele
Those fish are all caught by my dad, on the grill is a brown trout, a grayling and a european white fish, there were also rainbow trout, pike and samlet....
...corn on the cob is not so popular here, you do see it once in a while though, but we didnt have it at that day...

...yes you see sometimes subtitles when someone with a strong austrian dialect speaks on german TV, the same goes for the swiss german, which is even more distinct then the austrian dialect.
Yes there were several attempts to simplify things but it was more about spelling then grammar. The thing is there is no official High German Standard, we use a different dictionary as our official one then the germans, as we have many words that come from eastern europe (Austrian Hungarian Monarchy), that germans dont use...
here is a nice summary
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Austrian_German
Austrian German is the only variety of a pluricentric language recognised under international law / EU primary law.

...over the years people got more and more search savvy, while 5 years ago, majority would search two maximum three word search phrases, nowadays its more like people treating search engines as if they are talking to an oracle..., asking full sentences is not very uncommon anymore...
