The whole point of these images for me is to present a pic that inspires a story. So many renderings are clever but lifeless, and I try to make it look like a snapshot of something 'real'. Glad you liked it.

Its a matter of artistry and knowing what all those fancy buttons do. Make no mistake, I've rendered some real horrible pictures in my time (I'm not showing those!)

The textures are derived from those supplied with bryce. The city is nothing more than a flat plane with a single (slightly modified) texture. The pilot was from a MS flightsim model if I remember right, but its a flat sprite.

 

Bryce has a system of 'compound textures' that you can get great effects from. It was just a matter of experimenting.
