  4. Oy! Please watch the language, they are saints Sorry couldn't help myself , there has and always will be a massive rivalry between Leeds and Man U, 99% of Leeds fans have probably been brought up with "Man U are scum" drilled into them so please excuse me for i know not what i say Oh by the way Southampton are the saints :smartass:
  5. An excellent piece Cato, i take my hat off to you On a personal point of view i'm finding it pretty hard to come up with the right things to say and backing it up with the correct source :frusty: , it would take me forever and a day to come up with something of the likes i've just read. On the positive side, it does make fascinating reading and i've enjoyed being able to click on the source's and have a good flick through the histories( which have been saved in my favourites for future reference ) Keep it up!
  6. there's also an American playing for Leeds at the moment....Eddie Lewis, any of you yanks heard of him??
  7. That was sneaky It was worth a shot we need all the fans we can get at the moment
  8. Nope check the link http://www.wargamesfoundry.com/collections/CR/1/index.asp Top row center and top row left. Legionaries Throwing Javelin (they have pilums in their hands) Legionaries Attacking with Sword (they are armed with a gladius) these are legionaries without body armor. . . Foundry seems like a knowledgable company that bases its molds on historical fact. What gives here? Severus Mmmmm a tricky one i'll continue to look into it
  9. Could you please give me a bit more info on the role of the tyrant i.e whats involved??
  10. Haha how very true i wish you'd have told me that about two months ago, but seriously i wouldn't have missed it for the world it truly is a beautiful city
  11. I have a few pro's and con's PRO'S Citation of sources- it will make people think before just jumping in with any old tale they've heard or seen in a film/novel No tangents, stay on topic- it can be quite annoying when somebody just goes off on a totaly different path and you lose the basis of the thread Building a complete biblography of source materials- fantastic idea! It will encourage people to do proper research, that bit i'm quite looking forward to CON'S It could scare quite a few people away, one of the great things about this forum is the easy going nature, i think with the new changes it could become stricter and more regimented which could put people off, especially the novices( i must admit i'm a bit weary myself, being a relative beginner compared to some of the big hitters on this site ) I think it could be pretty hard work for the moderators, it might be a little bit more than what they want or are capable of doing At the end of the day we'll never know unless we try it, so go for it
  12. The problem with the 250,000 Poles that have come to this country to work is that there's 250,00 Englishmen out of work and if the same amount of Romanian's turn up looking for work then that's half a million people out of work, the problem is that the majority of the immigrants coming over are in the construction industry and will work for a lot less money than the English guys so obviously the big companies are going to employ them. I have quite a few friends in the building trades who are struggling for work at the moment because of the cheap labour so i totally agree with the goverment (for a change) about banning anymore immigrants coming into this country for work. Please don't take offence by this Kosmo i have nothing against the Romanian people or any other Eastern European country, it's my goverments fault in the first place and i hope they manage to sort this mess out amicably
  13. To be honest i'm pretty glad it didn't happen because from a personal point of view i dont think a toga would do me any favours what so ever and as for transport horses are ok but they tend to leave big piles of s*** everywhere :horse: You would need a seriously big poopa-scoop
  14. It's not been such a good start for the gooners, only one point from the first two games, already eight points behind the scumbags from Manchester, think they need to get thier fingers out
  15. I see our friends from across the pond have started a thread about American Football(how you can call it football i'll never know? ) so i thought we in England should have our say on "the beautiful game" I for my sins am a Leeds United fan :frusty: with nothing to look forward to at the moment, it'll be a few more years before we're back in the big time where we belong, i'm just waiting for a Russian billionaire to come along and do a Chelsea on us What about you guys??

  20. Just a small discrepancy between the wikpedia article and the source that PP gave us On wikpedia it says the book was dedicated to the emperor Theodosius The Great and in the other it says it was dedicated to the emperor Valentinian Which one was it??????????????
  21. "as a statesman he created nothing" I personally think this is a bit harsh, one of Caesar's greatest achievments was probably his long and patient handling of the problem of debt. He did this by enforcing a new set of regulations regarding the payment of loans to creditors whereas the debtors could repay the loans in land or property at pre-war prices instead of currency which at the time was very hard to find due to it being hoarded against better times at the start of the cival war. After his new regulations came into force, financial confidence started to come back, and money began to to be freely lent and borrowed. In this field, Caesar had achieved more than any previous statesman; he had broken the back of the republic's most unmanageable problem.
