  1. What about Nan Madol on the South Pacific island of Phonpei?
  2. I read somewhere that during Caligula's reign he would strongly criticize the extravagant way of life led by the Emperor and his court, as opposed to the traditional more conservative Roman every-day existence, though I'm not really sure how accurate this information is.
  3. ^ Some say one century, some say two. However, I've always been intrigued by the Incas, and I've ofen wondered how mystical really were they. If we were to believe a very respectable gentleman, Bill Sullivan, the Inca Empire should never have existed and that its only purpose was to change its faith: according to a profecy of Wirracocha Inca in 1432 the Empire will be destroyed as a result of heavy raining. Now, Pachacuti Inca, Wirracocha's son, rejected his father's profecy, but also accepted it. And thus started secret ceremonies like capa cocha during the winter solstice, which involved human sacrifice, especially children. They thought that the childer's soul was pure, and they were the only ones who could travel to their ancestors and convince them to change their faith. ( or so I've heard )
  4. I am proud to say that I come from a very beautiful country which was once part of the Roman Empire - Romania. I know that its image isn't the one it should be, unfortunately, but I love Romania with all my heart and I'll do my best to improve its image! ( sadly, you won't hear many Romanians talk like this ).
  5. ^Gratias ago, Gaius Paulinus Maximus! About that, I'm not really sure myself! hehe! But that is what is says on the diploma! 'Special Prize'
  6. Salve Romuli Parvi Nepotes! I'm new I came across this site, I have to admit, by accident. But thank God I did! My passion for the mighty Roman Empire came several years ago, and being a Romanian this passion grew stronger day by day. I studied Latin in school for two years, and I have participated at the Classic Languages National Olympiad two years in a row, and won a Special Prize ( yay! ). I recently entered University, and I'll be studying Law and Political Sciences. I've seen that there are plenty of users here with great knowledge, from whom I have a lot to learn, my being just a beginner in this field. Well, I'm looking forward to posting and meeting some pretty intriguing people! Cheers!
