    Well, I was informed there is no such thing as a "blue" moon. Only means, a second full moon in the same month as in "Once in a blue moon (a second one occurs)". Thanks for the link.

    Is there any ancient writings about the "blue moon"? What if any, did they attribute to the changing color of the moon? (By the way, I can't tell for sure if it's cloud cover or indeed the moon itself - but I'd say that is a blue moon out there tonight )

    I just watched Part One of the animated movie, Asterix in Britain, yes I see now THEY at least had afternoon "tea" way back when. How funny. Thanks for the heads up on the series. I bookmarked the site to watch more. I'll check out the books,too. OT: How is your summer of tours going so far, Ghost? You mainly guide tours of the wall right? what other sites, if any, were you able to visit?

    I don't know how anyone could see and watch such a thing. That goes for bear baiting and modern dog fights as well. Nuts.

    I need a "Computer Games for Dummies" book or something, but maybe you can explain to me how these games are played? It looks like a movie, do you assume certain characters, do you have to complete certain tasks to advance to the next level( or is that only in antiquated version of computer games?) Do you type in what you want your character to do and say?

    You would think physicians would infuse leaves of certain medicinal plants as a drink for healings, possible cures. Were mints grown or wild versions of the mint family possibly used in medicines. I never thought to check out ancient Roman recipes, I'm sure they used herbs in cooking; why not in drinks?

    Any references in ancient literature to tea, tea recipes, ceremonies, ect? What was the hot beverage of choice among Romans? Probably spiced wine.

    Its not a very good image since it keeps freezing and jumping on this PC. I had to go with the best image I could capture after several attempts but this may give you some idea of why I found the video funny... :lol: :lol:

    I'm unable to watch the video, it is "unavailable in your area". But the link to the article and photos is very good. I just don't see many sculptures or paintings of children in general, like the pull-along toy. The doll? I wonder where that was found. Imagine its story.

    I was thinking as caldrail mentions, that children were considered small adults. But it stands to reason that there would be toy soldiers for the boys to play with - or gladiators. An entire army of toy soldiers and ships maybe. It's curious that statues did not have movable joints? I'm thinking dolls here but then they would have to be of wood and wouldn't have survived.

    Were ancient Roman children given toys to play with? Have any examples ever been found, such as dolls, games? I don't recall ever reading much about this.

    Thank you. Enjoyed that read very much, interesting about the apiary that was found. And I totally forgot about wax that was used on tablets.

    While spooning honey into my tea this afternoon, I got to thinking about honey jars or containers and what the Romans may have used for gathering and storage of honey. Did they keep bee hives? was honey an item of trade? was it used in cooking? I think I do remember "honey cakes" being mentioned in books. Have archaeologists ever found evidence of bee keeping?

    Too bad this is in German. Before this, I watched a 50min. documentary on Leptis Magnus - also in German. Couldn't understand a word but enjoyed it anyway. Leptis Magnus must be a wonderful place to visit.
