  1. Happy Saturnalia, Merry Christmas, one and all UNRV people!
  2. After watching the virtual 3D tour of ancient Rome Guy posted, I watched this one on the baths. If this is how it looked, it must have been truly magnificent. Also, I was amazed that the narrative states the baths functioned for 300 years. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XQV8BJFAkrM
  3. ooooo! Thanks for sharing this. Would love to go and see it all.
  4. Everything old is new again. You know, I wouldn't be surprised if it really does make a comeback in the future.
  5. I wonder where and how the statue was originally found?
  6. Wonderful. Can't wait to see how this develops.
  7. That was very interesting, first time I have heard of the carnyx. The sound is incredible.
  8. It's amazing. What other wonderful discoveries are waiting.
  9. I remember watching a documentary on TV about this some years ago. Very interesting.
  10. Okay, I admit when I read the title of this post I expected to see a depiction of a gladiator holding a pen. 😁
  11. I watched that series so many times.
  12. I've read the articles linked in the post, but they don't mention what happened to this winery. Earthquake? Destroyed in war? Abandoned? Did they just walk away from all the amphorae, I guess it's something that always intrigues me.
  13. I believe this is the first time I've seen photos of the lids of amphorae.
  14. Very interesting and informative. Thanks for sharing this.
  15. How did I miss this post? I think I remember finding this series years ago, but I will go to You Tube and find the episodes. Thanks for sharing.
  16. So, the coins were found in the remains of a ship wreck? or buried in ground that later became under water? I'm confused.
  17. I too would like to see this. Hope you are able to do so soon and give us a trip report with photos.
