Due to circumstances I had to withdraw from the university course...... But..................The Great Courses company brought in a Latin course. It was not the same as the university course and started with the 3rd conjugation etc. So now I am trying that. no tests or time line... and I can redo a lesson as many times as I want. The lecture is very good. so I am still trying... I figure when I am 104 I will finally know Latin....lol

Once more, I will attempt to learn Latin, but this time I am registered in a class at the local university..... no more trying to learn on my own. So it will be me and all the young'uns.

Caesar's Messiah proven - the Flavians invented Christianity!
Artimi replied to gilius's topic in Templum Romae - Temple of Rome
After reading this thread and the other thread about this topic, some things come to mind. Gilius is saying this theory is correct because ???? - someone on another site has proved it and my(Gilius's)posts prove it. Others are asking for more detailed information on how the conclusion was arrived at, specific information. Gilius says it is all out there if you look, but I have proven my point (at least to his satisfaction) and am right and I don't have to provide the information you request. No meeting any minds anywhere. And the circle keeps spinning madly. -
The British Love of Drowning Small Animals
Artimi replied to Onasander's topic in Archaeological News: The World
Cruelty to animals is not restricted to any peoples or nations. See articles on what is happening in Romania. The dog fighting clubs in the USA. The abondonment of pets world wide. There are many organizations in various countries that DO care and rescue animals, be they pets or animals in distress. It is a shame humans are omnivores... last rant.... -
Siblings of mine journeyed to Greece and their guide was in theory a practising archeaologist. She told them that statues made by Romans in Greece were headless because the Romans thought the Greeks were so beautiful, they couldn't compete? I thought this was hogwash, right? she did show me some pictures of statues with heads missing and it looked like the heads had been crudely chopped off. Help!

What have the Romans ever done for us?
Artimi replied to GhostOfClayton's topic in Hora Postilla Thermae
Wasn't citizenship in Greece restricted to a select number of men born within each city. Unless you were born in the city, you were not a citizen. -
I have no idea, This Greek 'archeologist' said the statues were created headless. I wasnt there.. I did try to dispute this but was told why would some one say that especially if she (the guide) was an archaeologist. I just hate misinformation told to tourist and they accept it..Unfortunately I dont have the guide's name so I can google it. I will try to get it so I can google just for my own research.

The idea of universal citizenship which the Greeks would have been appalled at. -
The Problem with Arguments of Ancient Fear of the Unknown.
Artimi replied to Onasander's topic in Historia in Universum
I admit, some people are instinctively xenophobic, and NEVER leave. -Onasander this sounds like you think these two things are linked together. You have one, you have the other. Some people do not need to travel to expand their horizons. Why are things either / or ? Sometimes it is and. I found when things are considered either/or, both sides are very intolerant. that's my rant. -
Tis on sale in Canada now... I like how it is structured, and since taking the class University didn't work out, I may try this.

. By the way, Gruen's sketch of Crassus, emphasising his auctoritas, potentia and clientelae on pages 66-74 of his "Last Generation of the Roman Republic" (with many references) is interesting. Added to my wish list.

He is helping you grow with his yelping and jumping..... Most cats exhibit some this kind of behaviour in the morning. You just need to learn to wake up before he does that -

Cruelty to animals in any form is universal, whether for sacrifice or dog fighting. No culture is immune.\ -

Europe, 100 years of stupidity, pointless violence, and failed excuses. Don't care for the reasons, your feelings, or you retorts. Just collectively stop it. Just make it stop. Please stop. No more. No more bright ideas, just knock it off, and start doing the right thing. as per Onasander. Curious, doing what right? and how? and dictates the right thing and the method? Scot free? North America which includes the USA by this analysis got away scot free... I don't care about how life is in Europe, the march to destroy life, time, and embrace every new vogue of insanity, in the name of progress and reason, a mere shadow of a chimera of those supposed ideals. I would much rather just have the real thing. Onasander what it is the real thing?? -
