  1. Hi Nephele, hi PP!

Just know that I haven't forsaken UNRV, I haven't gone to another forum or anything... :( The fates have just pulled me fully into 'real life' for quite a while. I promise to start visiting as much as I can from now on and will try to at least get close to my old activity level...

  2. Just wanted to pop in and say hi to all my UNRV friends. I can't believe it's been over a year and a half since I was active and I deeply regret my profound inactivity.

I have been an extraordinarily busy person for quite some time and my beloved hobby has had to take a serious, forced hiatus. If you can believe it I can count on one hand how many books or even articles I have taken in since I've been gone. But, it gives me great joy to see UNRV still thriving (and RtG gone...) and know that as soon as I am able I will be back at it here again. :(

    Hope everyone is doing well!

  3. Ack!!!!!!

So very late for the festivities! It should be easy to remember since it falls on Veteran's Day (US)!

Hope you had a great one full of fantastic tidbits & imperialistic morsals washed down with fine zythum & vinum

Glory be to the Gods my friend that you continue to bless the earth with your presence

    ;)

  4. May one take it that writings do exist in Carthaginian and not simply in translations?

Are you asking if direct Punic writing exists & not through Greek or Roman translations?

The answer is indeed yes in the form of funerary epigraphy, religious & commemorative inscriptions. No direct literature per se but enough extant writing for grammar to be painstakingly pieced together.

    For what it

  5. Wow , this thread has gone totally DaDa!

"The statistics on sanity are that one out of every four Americans is suffering from some form of mental illness. Think of your three best friends. If they're okay, then it's you." - Rita Mae Brown

With the God Consul's behavior in this thread I think I'm safe...

  6. I think it's odd that the article made mention of Octopus. Fire fishing is not really appropriate for them as they don't often move near the surface?

Fishermen off Tunisia still use the tried and true method utilized all the way back in the Archaic by the Phoenicians (and by extension the Hebrews) & the Greeks... Clay pots are lowered by rope to the bottom in the evening and hauled up in the morning. Octopi crawl in there like it's a little cave. No bait other than the shelter is needed!
