Congratulations on getting your new laptop! I got a new (or rather a second hand) PC this week, after having wanted a new one for over 2 years. It seems odd to lose the old one though, I had that one since 2002! Will you be keeping your own PC or selling it off?

This is an absolutely brilliant site, it's fun, full of great information, well maintained and updated, with a great set of wonderful forummers, it's civil, laidback, well illustrated... I could go on!
A big thank you to the site's administrators for keeping it up and running. Keep up the Excellent work!!!

Perhaps for many modern Italians the connection with Ancient Rome has been ruined by Mussolini. After all, didn't he link his own fascist Italy of the 30's and 40's with Ancient Rome?
Maybe the connection between ancient Rome and Fascist Italy is too much for some modern Italians. I'm not saying that this is the case, but it might be a possible factor.

That's great to hear Doc, you are very lucky to have students like that!

Welcome back Imperator!

I'm glad you enjoyed your trip! I've just been looking at your pictures in the Gallery and they were excellent. I have no doubt you'll be getting back to Rome again soon.

Good Luck Doc!

If we must rely on coal based energy, will we be seeing a return to Victorian styles of living, with smog shrouded cities?
What host of other alternative fules have scientists being considering? According to some stuff I've read, windfarms might have to be constructed in coastal areas; although these won't provide a fraction of the energy provided by a nuclear power plant. We might even have to depend on Nuclear energy to provide most of the energy to a small country, even if we do use wind and coal energy.
Is this true or is it biased by the nuclear lobby or anti-enviromentalists?

I read an American review online today, in which the reviewer told us that Marcus Agrippa declares his love for Octavia.
Huh? Marcus Agrippa and Octavia...in love?
Despite this quirk, I'll still give series 2 a look. If I can stomach Uli Edel's 'Julius Caesar', then I can definately tolerate the inaccuracies of Rome 2 (I hope...)

Aye!
It 'd be great to see your book published!

Sean Connery would be proud of you... :2guns: :sniper:
Glad to see you had fun, and it's an added bonus if you raised money for charity!

Hope you have a good night's rest! And good luck.

I definately need a haircut! I haven't gone in weeks and it's starting to get a bit too long.

Congratulations on taking the first step to Blogdom! ( I have yet to start)

Interesting Info! Didn't soldiers (perhaps in the eastern Empire) subsist on a diet that included onions, bread and perhaps cheese? Or was this for the Byzantine Era. I'm sure I've read it somewhere before. Either way, all hail the announcer!

Hemlock...Socrates must be spinning. An interesting list of toxins. Livia (the one in I, Claudius at least...not the historical figure) must be very well read when it comes to these toxins.

Congratulations!

I hope you'll feel better soon.
