  1. Well depending on the materials in question, metal goods would most likely come from Celtic Lands. records show a great deal of Roman weapons, armour, tools, came from from places outside of Roman influence. I would not dismiss Celts as being backwards people who were behind the Romans in economics, Celtic trading and craftsmanship is in many cases shown to be superior than that of the Romans, even more so later in the 10th century after the fall of the empire. When scandanavian and traders from the british isles would have put any Roman, Islamic, or Oriental Trade network to shame.
  2. My guess would be there were very small numbers of Celtic traders operating in Roman lands, besides the tribes that co-operated with the romans, of which there were at least 3 in southern britain. I read a few months ago about the possibility of some trade from modern wales to germany and even the black sea, but there was no real evidence.

    Henry VIII wore football boots

Ohhh, I can only imagine what that would look like, lol! "Tripping? off with your head!"
  5. Kilts are still standard uniform for many Scottish, Irish, and Canadian Army Units, including the one I am serving in, the Calgary Highlanders; sister unit to the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders. As for us Irish moving to North America, we did it to escape war, unemployment, poverty, famine, and tyranny. Only to find ourselves treated like dirt in what was supposedly the "Land of the Free". Fighting your wars and building you're cities. We did'nt go looking to find ourselves and try to be something we're not. As an Irish writer once said, "The population of Ireland is 100 Million, and only four million of them still live on the Island." And, what Blue pip, and title Viggen?
  6. Some interesting stuff, Viggen! They should talk to some Irish Kilt makers, the sense of Celtic pride is strong there, and Dublin is always chalk full of American tourists trying to be Irish, who empty their pockets for some crappy bit of crap with celtic designs and a little story about it. I might have to look at buying one next time I go home, I'll hop a boat to Scotland, and try to find one!
  7. I am also looking forward to contributing and of course learning on this forum! Great job guys!
