If you were a Roman gladiator, what name would you give yourself ?

Irrespective of your gender, if you had to serve as a Roman gladiator

and were the most powerful one, what witty serious or humorous Gladiator

name/s would you adopt ?

I'd just use the ones from the 90s TV show. Is there a latin word for Jet - she was lovely. And Lightning wasn't bad either. And then there was Sharon Davis as Amazon. Happy days.

Actually, I can't ignore my gender.

I has always liked Pollux, as the ideal partner of the famous Castor, a gladiator so famous in the early Principate that Cassius Dio could use him as a reference a century after his time.

In fact, from the Olympic twins, Pollux was the one who bested in wrestling; Castor was reportedly an expert in horses.

I watch in wonder as Nephele single-handedly casts the "expendables" in Gladiatrix II.

Thanks, Neph!

It can't be irrespective of your gender, because Roman names were gender-specific. So a male might be Perforatus est, but his female equivalent would be Perforata est.

Not exactly sure on what I would use as my Gladiatrix name. I would have to put as much thought into this as if I was coming up with a stage/performance name for band use. If I had to pull one out of a hat though, probably something (do not know it in Latin) meaning "Determined Killer" or "Fierce Warrior".

Importunus the Uncertain... not likely to have a long career!

MEDVSA

That's the arena name I have chosen for my reenactment because I didn't want to take neither Amazone nor Achillia (the only two known names of gladiatrices) but took a name from Greek mythology as was common among gladiators.
