Art of War and Poliocretics mostly for most world cultures, refocusing in the west and trying to read up on the old Greek, Roman, and Byzantine periods. I've hit on Christian Monasticism during roman times, as well as philosophy. Not a expert on anything yet, but will be soon in the AoW area. I'm a big fan of Boethius as well.

I'm no expert, but my main areas of interest are the Middle and Late Roman Empire and the Byzantine period. My main source of reference is Gibbons 'Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire' of which I have read the unabrigded version. My other sources are some shorter books on the Roman military.

I'm really interested in military history in general and am a military enthusiast. I'm also a Law student, so I've studied Roman Law and would like to do an advanced course in Roman Law later in my studies.

I'm a byzantine buff myself.

I always have found the Byzantine Empire far more interesting because everyone has heard of the Ancient Roman empire but everyone always thinks that the Roman empire ended with the fall of the west. I'm firmly convinced that the Byzantine Empire was a genuine Later Roman Empire, and i love finding as much out about it as possible.

i don't mind a bit of Boethius either

General Roman history, though I'm trying to 'specialise' in the Roman-Celtic relationship. There are allot of Roman historians, and a few Celtic ones too. The whole Roman-Celtic area seems to be pretty oppertunity rich. Celtic historians tend to see of the Romanisation from a Celtic viewpoint, and Roman historians share the same supiority complexes. I have the fortune of being (reasonably) unbiassed with this, since I maintain a pretty simple viewpoint on them; they were from two completely different era's. Who knows, maybe one day I'll write a book on it.

In Roman history, I'm strongest on the early republic and early empire.

For history in general, my degree emphasis was in Islamic history and I am also fairly good with western medieval and late 19th and early 20th century history.

Also a special intrest in the history of history (historiography). <_<

Basically, for me, it's all good... :)

I specialise in the Later Eastern Roman (Byzantine) period, from Constantine the Great to Constantine XI Palaeologus.

I love this era, although i take deep interest in anything to do with the Roman Empire at any time.

I don't claim to be an expert, however, i just have great research skills and deep interest:)

I am most certainly not an expert. I am just a history buff.

As for my area of interest, I would say late roman history. Primarily the 5th and 6th centuries. While I am interested in both eastern and western Roman history, this period obviously puts more weight on the east.

While the military side of things is of interest to me, the economic, religous and administrative sides of late roman history are the things that really hold my interest. Some of the specific questions I am pondering right now include the demise of the decurial class and the resulting additional pressure towards centralization (and corruption), strategic mistakes Justinian made in this reconquest of Africa and Italy, likely governmental reforms that could have reversed some of the decline in the cities and the many different forms of religous heresy.

I consider myself to be knowledgeable of all areas of the western Roman Empire. I need to learn more of the eastern Roman Empire. If you want me to set a date on it? I'd say 509BCE-200CE the span of what I know, and i'm not saying I know very much of that time period still, I just know more than I do lets say 200CE-450CE, or 753BCE-509BCE and the Etruscan rule of Rome.
