parthianbow 1 Report post Posted November 4, 2012 I'm in Italy at the moment, researching details for my second Hannibal novel, Fields of Blood. When at Cannae, I videoed a short piece about the battle. Please excuse a) my voice (I have laryngitis) the wind noise c) the slightly grainy quality. Otherwise, enjoy! I was in Italy in June too, filming short pieces about Spartacus. There's one about his escape to Vesuvius, One about his final battle And one about the crucifixions on the Via Appia. I hope you get the time to watch some of them!
GhostOfClayton 25 Report post Posted November 5, 2012 (edited) Thanks for those. Maybe the contributors to this forum could do more 'on the spot' short video documentaries? I may do some for Hadrian's Wall next season, though the locations will be far less exotic. Edited November 5, 2012 by GhostOfClayton

DecimusCaesar 1 Report post Posted November 5, 2012 Nice video, you're very lucky to be able to visit such a famous site on what looks like a beautiful day, shame about your illness though! It must have been a terrible sight with all the blood and gore in 216 BC; it really was a horrific slaughter.

Raedarius 0 Report post Posted November 13, 2012 Cool videos, being located where I am I don't get to visit those places so I appreciate seeing them on video.
Klingan 2 Report post Posted November 14, 2012 Outstanding stuff, thank you. Pity English isn't your first language... You are kidding, right?! Not sure if he's joking or not, but you wouldn't believe how much assessing if your a native speaker or not depends on if people think that you are a native speaker or not; I've been hanging out with people for hours only to get asked about what we eat for Halloween in Australia (I'm from Sweden). At other times, someone who knows that I'm not a native speaker will complain loudly about my poor pronunciation.
parthianbow 1 Report post Posted November 14, 2012 It's still a bizarre comment, IMO! I have only ever spoken English.
Crispina 18 Report post Posted November 14, 2012 It's still a bizarre comment, IMO! I have only ever spoken English. :blink:/> I hear nothing at all wrong with your English, maybe a bit tired from your illness, but otherwise enjoyed the videos very much. Virgil61 3 Report post Posted November 14, 2012 I'm glad that you all enjoyed one/all of them. Outstanding stuff, thank you. Pity English isn't your first language... You are kidding, right?! I didn't mean to be hurtful, I was merely trying to help you get rid of that funny accent. We have English as a Second Language classes all over the U.S. I encourage all Brits to attend... ...Virgil...running away dodging stones...
parthianbow 1 Report post Posted November 15, 2012 (edited) Funny accent? Don't get me started on American accents! By the way, I'm Irish, not British. Edited November 15, 2012 by parthianbow
Virgil61 3 Report post Posted November 15, 2012 (edited) Funny accent? Don't get me started on American accents! By the way, I'm Irish, not British. Good lord I know better than saying British...egg on my face. In my defense I've just finished some Sharpe's TV episodes in a marathon viewing session, I blame Daragh O'Malley's SGT Harpur character for confusing me temporarily. Klingan 2 Report post Posted November 15, 2012 This is just getting better and better, eh? Anyways, I'm thinking about copying your concept here, I just need to find something suitable to talk about.
