Wealth and bloodline were tied together, as usually only the previously rich families had wealth. Clients were usually city-dwellers who promised their vote to the patrician that treated them the best which resulted in large commissationes and probably sex orgies. The plebians were just those without a large villa in the countryside only living in either insulae or small houses if they could afford it.
