Roman Coin Collecting Books

David Van Meter's: Handbook of Imperial Roman Coins is an excellent starting point. It's affordable and comprised in a single volume (though possibly hard to find and nothing on Republican coins).

David R. Sear is a definative authority, but there are several volumes and they are quite pricey.

Wayne G. Sayles is another authority, but again you are dealing with several volumes.
