Caius Maxentius 0 Report post Posted June 19, 2006 ...directly to known Roman families? I've often wondered if names like Giuliani indicate some connection to the Julii or Juliani. Are there any proven family lines, or is there just too little in the way of records during the Dark Ages to trace lineage?

AEGYPTUS 0 Report post Posted June 25, 2006 (edited) I would have to agree Dan Brown books are not great would not use them as a reference anyway. Also The Da Vinci Code the movie for example was really bad. Edited June 25, 2006 by AEGYPTUS

Ludovicus 5 Report post Posted August 20, 2006 As an amateur genealogist, I've never heard of any documented pedigree that reached back beyond the time of Charlemagne. Perhaps it was the many barbarian invasions and migrations, the decline of the Roman school system, and the general decline in life expectancy and living standards in the West that made record keeping there impossible.
