I've often wondered if names like Giuliani indicate some connection to the Julii or Juliani. Ludovicus Posted August 20, 2006 Report Share Posted August 20, 2006 As an amateur genealogist, I've never heard of any documented pedigree that reached back beyond the time of Charlemagne. Perhaps it was the many barbarian invasions and migrations, the decline of the Roman school system, and the general decline in life expectancy and living standards in the West that made record keeping there impossible.
