Established religions don't suit everyone. Look how fragmented christianity is today. Islam has similar problems although they prefer to present a united front.

So you're saying the jews 'invented' monotheism?

Technically, it's the first 'recorded' Monotheism.

That is funny I always thought that the first recorded montheist religon was Akhenaten idea an Ancient

Egyptian Pharoh. The worship of the Golden sun disc Aten. Getting rid of all other Egyptian gods/goddess during his reign. I think Christianity and Judaisum would have come alot later down the time scale.

Yep, good point. That was the first recorded instance of monotheism. And there are those who say the Hebrews must have gotten the idea of Monotheism from their servitude in Egypt (although outside the Bible there is little evidence for large numbers of Hebrew slaves in Egypt).

To be fair the Egyptian experiment with monotheism ended after Akhenaten's death. The Monotheism of the Hebrew tribes obviously took strong root in their culture.

true, The Egyptians tried to stamp out his religion, even Akenhaten's son Tutanaten's name was chnged to Tutankhamun (after the god Amun-Ra). The Egyptians even took steps to erase the entire families names of all the monuments of Egypt, meaning that Tutankhamun's tomb survived ( although it was defaced somewhat by robbers).

So at least the Egyptian experiment with monothesism did produce the wonders of Tutankhamun's tomb.
