Fidel Castro (Capitalist Democracy vs Socialism)

Recommended Posts

Gaius, someday you may get your wish of communism, and it will certainly devolve into dictatorship and oppression as it always has proven to do. Rather than being free to attack our current government with such zeal as you do now, you might not have such a luxury under another form of government.

I guess I'm just an ignorant moron though.

You have my permission (if required), to think what you will of yourself. BUT, you do not have permission to get between my ears! If you would be so kind as to supply me with one example - one mind you - (Don't burden yourself with two.), or a valid syllogism that you may validly construct, where I have ever 'wished' for ANY form of government or economic society on anyone, then I will kiss your naked bottom in Macy's window at high-noon on Presidents Day.

Just in case you are not aware of it, I AM FREE to 'attack' or criticize MY government when called for and just. The Alien & Sedition Laws have expired! From what you have written, is it fair for me to conclude that you were in the forefront of those who confronted the malignant, malformed, cretinaceous, cowardly liars and propangandists who maligned the very breath, of our last DULY ELECTED president every moment of his eight years and then some??? Hah???

If you cannot fulfill the request contained in the first paragraph, then you owe YOURSELF - not me, mind you - an apology.

Take a peek at my earlier post.

I'm sorry Gaius, I'm not smart enough to understand all that. Maybe if you used simpleton words I wouldn't make the dreadful mistakes I make :P

(by the by, I personally don't want anyone to kiss my naked butt in front of Macy's)

By the by, please don't tell me to shut up. Just as you are allowed to freely express yourself here (and in fact encouraged to do so) I also believe strongly in my right speak freely.

Ginevra literally translated the idiom and usage of her language. It is not meant to be an insult to anyone.

Yet, you don't believe in my right to speak freely. That's for the self annointed ELECT.

I was using it to take a veiled shot to illustrate that communism is not free. Didn't work I guess. Oh well.

That was an attempt at a cop-out but it doesn't hold water. What words, in particular, trouble you?

:P

Have I stifled your comments? I don't understand how I could be accused of such a thing when I have the power to do so but have not.

I was attempting to beg off from the conversation because I don't see the value in my own continued personal involvment in a subject which has nothing to do with ancient history. {edit, what I mean is, I think its bad form for me as a representative of the site as a whole}

However, I will answer your questions for the sake of courtesy.

I read into the extolling of the virtues of communism and repetetive haranguing of our current government that you would prefer one before the other. Forgive me crossing the bridge.

No, I didn't like Clinton, but other than not doing much of anything for 8 years I didn't really care what he did with his personal parts.

Sorry but I don't tolerate lectures and moral high ground from Europeans who have enough blood, racism and hypocrisy on their own hands to make any American blush without responding.

Did someone on this thread say WWII was a 'dirty war"? Sorry, I must have missed it. To take you back a few days, the Soviets were 'our' comrades during WWII. The guerrelas of all stripes were invaluable to the allies in the march to Germany in WWII.

You have not stiffled my comments and I am not aware of my saying so. You have the power, right and indeed the obligation to delete, in their entirety, any posts that you wish to. And I feel that you should do this when called for.

I would have hoped that you understood that I was NOT writing about 'freedom' on the Forum, but rather ones ability to speak in general.

You did not answer my question at all.

In any event, now I exit stage left(?).

The quote marks indicate sarcasm in response to the previous post. Thanks for the mini-lecture on Soviet participation in WWII, a field I'm well versed in. It has nothing to do with the immediate issue of the liberation of Italy which in spite of partisan movements of socialist, communist and other anti-fascist forces was predominately won through the efforts of American and British men and materiel.

As a footnote, large numbers of those heroic Soviet partisans were destined for labor camps in the Soviet Union after the war in spite of their achievements. Oh, irony.

There are not two types of communism, that is communist propaganda. Only one existed in several forms and all were criminal.

I have first hand experience of communism ans so did my parents and grandparents and I had read a lot about it in the last 16 years. So, I'm in the same time biased against it and well informed.

Lumumba and Leopold have nothing to do with Angola. Check again!

Romania did not have a nobilty since middle 19 century!

It was the third world producer of oil and this was not monopolised by the 7 Sisters. French, german, hungarian etc capital was present on a free market. Before WW2 Romania had a prosper capitalist agriculture based on small farms and capitalist cooperatives while now 1/3 of arable land it's not used. Industry covered the consumption needs for key sectors like siderurgy, textile, food etc. This made it possible that before and during WW2 Romania produce her own fighter and bomber planes like IAR-80, IAR-81 or, under licence, Me 109-E.

Of course the devastation of WW1, the problems after the unification, military expenditure because of conflicts in the area and the Great Depression prevent it to have the prosperity of other areas, but it was decent and romanians did not emigrate, but italians, greeks etc came to work here.

Hungary had in 1914 the densest railroad network and Cehoslovakia was a democracy and an industrial power.

Communism it's similar to nazism in the extent of crimes and worse in the longlasting effects of his duration and destruction. People don't dare to say that they are nazis, but the communists have no shame.

They never realized that the foundation of communism it's hate against everything different and they did killed and destroyed everything and everyone that stood out. Hate the rich, hate the church, hate the writers, hate the painters, hate the minority. Hate was the key word.

Do you see any dfference between german painting during Hitler's rule and the realism socialist dogma that lasted in communist art until 1990?

Or the expulsion of millions of germans from Central Europe at the end of WW2 it's a humane gesture?

If you admit that you like a doctrine that was the one of Lenin, Stalin, Mao, Beria, Hodgea, Cioibalsan, Brejnev, Racz, Sartre, Malroux, Pol Pot and Ceausescu it's your moral problem not mine.

I promised P.P. that I was out of this thread unless an emergency occurred. One has. I blundered in re Angola. Should have used Congo. The for which I tender octillions of apologies to all. Yet, I could very easily have obfuscated the blunder to my favor. In this vein, I hope that I will be allowed another minor, if not petty, exemption from my promise: Nehru, not Castro, was the leader of the 'non (or as some might hold mis or mal) - aligned nations'. For allowing this inconsequential bit to slip through my lacking mind, I also offer nano sums of apologies to all.

Adieu,
