Augustus Caesar, for finally ending the instabilities of the late Republic. For ruling with relative restraint. For championing traditional values and morality. For funding the arts and public construction projects. For being the veritable father of the great empire. And for becoming a god after his death. ;-)

I'd have to second Augustus as the greatest.

However, the one who drew me into studying Roman history is the legend of "lefty" - Scaevola.

He sure as heck would have psyched me out.

hehe, nice choice Spurius...

 

would be nice to tell us a bit about him as not every one here knows about the brave man from early times...
