Romanstudent19 0 Report post Posted June 8, 2007 I was just wondering, would you recommend the book 'Archaic Roman Religion' by George Dumezil, I've seen it recommended on some sites and I was just wondering if it was a good book on the Roman religion and beliefs. Thanks for any help (also, feel free to leave any other suggestions if you want).
Pantagathus 0 Report post Posted June 8, 2007 I have it and have not finished it. In fact I owe UNRV a review for it. From what I have read, I would say that it is a bit tedious and if you are not up on general (proto)Indo-European religious studies you'll be a bit lost. It also struck me a a bit out of date. However, there are some valuable insights in it.

Thanks, do you know of books that are good for beginners in the Roman religion and beliefs, 'cause I really would like to learn more, in detail (there's only so much that internet sites can say). Thanks again.
