Julian the Apostate becomes Ceasar of the West
355AD - After dealing with the rebellions of Magnentius and Sylvanus, Constantius felt he needed a permanent representative in Gaul. Julian was thus summoned to appear before the emperor in Mediolanum (Milan) and, on 6 November, 355, he was made Caesar of the West and married Constantius' sister, Helena.
