   Quintus Horatius Flaccus (65 BCE - 8 BCE), one of Rome's greatest poets, born in the town which is today known as Venosa in southern Italy. His works include the Ars Poetica ("Art of Poetry"). He died in Rome, having bequeathed his farm to the Emperor Augustus upon his death.
