A Japanese company has come up with a fashion-forward take on the lorica hamata for just 19,000-52,000 yen (~$ 190-$ 520). I wouldn't dream of visiting Gaul without one. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to protect against a stabbing function. so I hope the poor model didn't lose any saline in the puncture testing process.
