Kosmo Posted June 7, 2008 Author Report Share Posted June 7, 2008 Odoacer confiscated 1/3 of the lands of romans to give to his mercenaries, killed and disbanded roman armed forces, abolished the right of romans to carry weapons, put to an end the western empire, named himself with the hated title of king, aroused the anger of the eastern emperor by the rebellion of his brothers and by the assasination of the legitimate (at least from an eastern view) Julius Nepos and of his eastern troops in Dalmatia and was the first arian to rule Italy, the seat of the catholic pope and the home of a catholic italian population in a land where only germans mercenaries were arians.
