  1. Thanx for prompt response! Yes GUY, I absolutely agree with you that coins are among the best sources of information (especially for portraits) about the emperors. The most known bust of Probus is from Capitoline Museums, Palazzo Nuovo, first floor, Hall of the Emperors but my opinion is that sculptor was very poor. There is only few things on that bust in connection with coin portraits of Probus. Bryaxis Hecatee you are right, with little help of Bill Storage ( http://rome101.com/ ) I found that mysterious Probus is located in National Archeology Museum of Napoli under Inv. no. 6100. Now I need someone from Napoli to help me... Thak you for information of Brescia gilded bronze Probus... terrible sculptor! I heard about Probus in Brescia but I never found picture. Need to check it. I found errors in that Picassa album: author named this picture ( https://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/1MuKjXgi4PdLXvugevAT3w?full-exif=trueas ) as Gothicus but that is probably Aurelian ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aurelian ). My opinion (very personally) is that portrait of Probus from Napoli (https://picasaweb.google.com/garrabranco/ROMA2#5197785217034029458 ) have a lot of Probus character from coins, even if it is not portrait of Probus... I will report about new details in this investigation... Best Regards Vladimir (sorry for my English)
  2. Hi, Searching for the sculptures of the Roman emperor Marcus Aurelius Probus I have found this page: http://www.dec.ufcg.edu.br/biografias/IRProbus.html which contains the very interesting bust of the emperor Probus. Probus bust on above webpage I found also on this page: https://picasaweb.google.com/garrabranco/ROMA2#5197785217034029458 but person who has placed the photograph on the above mentioned webpage doesn't know where it was taken. I have been working on the project of erecting a monument to Marcus Aurelius Probus in Sirmium (he was born and he died in Sirmium) and I am wondering if you could help me in investigation about this Probus bust. However, I haven't been able to find out in which museum it is exhibited and I haven't been able to find this bust anywhere else... is it Probus anyway? Best Regards Vladimir
