    Rome And Usa.

well, I'm only worrying about my future I'm very young and this years will be the peak of my life unfortunately(or fortunately for them), some people won't be here in those years to see this changing world

    Rome And Usa.

diegis dixit :notworthy: giving a Big mac or a cola as strong point for this argue or even thinking of it as "culture" is something out of place... Appart from this, I DO NOT HATE US (America is a country to admire in many ways) it's a stupid idea, is something that you made up.The fact that somebody critize some things of America, that don't mean that he hates it. Maybe is what american youngs have been taught: "People hate USA because we are superior" or "To critize US is to hate US" I sometimes wonder if American do really believe all this things and if they're not aware of the manipulation in the mass-media so that's the only one reality they have. It seems everything is manipulated for the people keep thinking america is perfect or simply if they know the truth but they only want to remark the good things and "forget" the bad ones
  5. well, that's the question: What province (in terms of estrategical position, geography, climate, politics, army, conquest, obtaining metals, grain, food...) would make the roman empire a little more weak if it wasn't under roman rules? what do you think is the province for which Rome would have done everything for not to lose it? P.D: Sorry for this awful english

    Rome And Usa.

ehehehe, I suppose you're talking seriously so now that you talk about this, the other day, watching the channel euronews, they made a poll whit a curious result: only about 1.5% of Europeans would like to live in US and the other 98.5% would never choose living there if they had the chance I obviously would never change living here in the old world that living there(even I'd love make a trip to New York) of course they'd love move there or here, but that is because they don't know the hypocrite classicism that americans and europeans have and they realize that "the fabulous land of freedom and opportunities" is an absolute fiasco
  7. For sure, I absolutely agree that the US are influenced by Rome and consequently by Greece, I think that is obvious in engineering, architecture or laws...but to assume for that that US is "a new Rome" is a strong affirmation. So, here's what I want to mean, why the fact that US is influenced by Rome gives you the idea that US is "a new" Rome, if we follow this rule, France, Germany or any european country can be Roma...roman-style buildings are in everywhere, not only in washington and about culture and politics, as it was pointed out before, US culture is similar to the European one (something that I totally disagree too ) so we go again with the same, any country of here can be "a new " rome from your point of view P.D: Sorry for my English
  8. why many americans love being compared with Rome? I think you have much more non-common points with Rome that common ones. .Every empire(well, US is not an empire but you understand me) is different on its own. And about "the greatest influence on the western world", I don't think that could be a similarity with Rome since Rome "influenced"(a soft word to explain what Rome did) the western world because Rome WAS the western world
  9. definitely architecture and engineering, I can't explain what I feel when I go to Segovia and see that impressive aqueduct passing through the city and know that still works today as it did XIX centuries ago, the same when I go to Seville(Italica) or M
  10. I'm from Spain, more specifically,I lived in Saint James of compostella(don't know how to write in english), it's the end city of the St.James Way but at the age of 8 I came to France to live with my parents.I lived very near of the Hercules tower(the only one roman lighthouse in the world that still keeps working) and also near of the Roman wall of the Lugo (ancient Lucus Augusta, the only one roman wall in the world that has all its perimeter intact)as well its wonderfull roman baths and other remains. I love rome since I visited the city of M
  11. I think every language has its diffuculties but in english there will be always something that I will never learn well, and they're the PHRASAL VERBS
  12. there are HUNDREDS of names in actual spanish, italian and portuguese(in french too but I think they are much more different in writing and pronunciation), in spanish somo of them: Hadrian/Adriana Hadriano Alba Albano Amadeo Amancio Amanda Amparo Antonio/Antonia Aquilino Ariadna Araceli Augusto Aurelio Aurora Beatriz Benedicto ........ The main difference from latin names are for example: the names finished in -o(Hadriano, Amdeo) in Latin finished in - us(Hadrianus, amadeus), or names finished in -triz(beatriz) in Latin finish in - trix(beatrix)...
  13. I think it's Anno Domini P.S: Hi to everyone, this is my first post here.I've been reading this forum for a long time and finally I registered .It's really good
