For the sake of economy, after a clash, was it the norm that the discarded/used pilum collected and made reuseable?

In all the books I have featuring illustrations of early imperial legionaries they predominantly are dressed in red tunics, but then you will see them in blue, green, white, etc. What are the sources on the colours worn? Were certain colours worn by certain legions or is the topic still a mater of conjecture?

Those boots might not have been well used considering that owards the last few years of his life he was obese and suffered from ulcers on the legs. I wonder who got them in the end? His Son Edward perhaps?
Before Edward started losing his toes?

It is an exaggeration. Suetonius milked that victory for everything it was worth.
Shame he then blew it by being replaced in Britain after conducting punitive raids that if anything only increased anti-Roman hostility.

The victory over the Iceni in 61AD on Watling Street I have heard was achieved despite being outnumbered 20:1. Possibly an exaggeration I'll admit

Well first it'd be better if you could narrow your search parameters a bit since the imperial army's auxiliaries are quite a bit different from republican units which were either sent by other's nations or formed from mercenary companies.
I'll do that
I was thinking of Imperial auxiliary units, for instance the Hamian archers based at Vercovicium. What of their standard bearers? Were their officers equipped like normal auxiliary infantry centurions or did they differ?

Can anyone inform me (or provide me with a link or other source) regarding the organization of auxiliary archer and slinger units? (breakdown, officers, officers' equipment, etc).
Thanks in advance

Votadini, id suggest a pm to "Caesar Augustus" , as he is the man nearest to the spot.
Or find him here:
Thanks very much Pertinax, I'll do that.

did they specify what stage in his life he played the sport. Only because when he was older he got a tad over weight. I cannot really picture him running around a football pitch
I guess when he was younger, allegedly quite a virile hunk then, but I can see him more as a real tennis and hunting afficianado rather than a renaissance Roy of the Rovers.

I will await the DVD
I think I'll wait too.
Isn't it a rip-off of the HK movie 'Internal Affairs'?

I was wondering if anyone can give me any information regarding these forts, particularly in reference to any civilian communities in their immediate vicinities (whether native Votadini or more Romanized/Romano-British)?
Thank you in advance

Hail to all.
I've been living in Korea and Japan for some years now but good in many respects to be back in Europe and the trawling around ancient remains can resume with zeal.
Thanks
Troop names.

Did the reorganization of troop types lead to much discontent as military types were based on social background?
