  1. Has anybody here heard or read anything about the use of tattoos in the Roman Empire? Who had them (soldiers, slaves, senators)? What technique was used? What did the tattoos look like (Legion symbols, "SPQR")? Martijn
  2. Some interesting reading on Roman calendars: http://webexhibits.org/calendars/calendar-roman.html
  3. In the near future I'll have more time in the weekends, so I'll visit some Belgian musea and sites. I'll let you know when I have some more photo's...
  4. At the moment I'm not involved in any reenactment groups or events in any way. As far as I know, there are no Roman reenactment groups in Belgium at this time. If someone in Belgium decides to start up such a group, I'll surely join. If nobody starts up a reenactment group, I will probably do so myself someday, but right now I just don't have time for it. About the Roman calendar: Based on info found on several websites en several of my books, and some translations in Latin I did myself, I've composed a calendar in iCal, the calendar application of Apple. I published the calendar on the web for others to view, and for other iCal users to subscribe to. I don't know which other PIM's can subscibe or download .ics-calendars too... Feel free to use it in any way you want, and let me know if you find any mistakes or important holidays that are missing. Bene vale!
  5. Salve! I'm new on this forum - although I've been reading it for a few weeks now - but I think it's an interesting place te come back regularly. Too bad it doesn't have a lot of members... yet. Roman history is my greatest hobby, and I try to visit all Roman events in my area. I have some pictures of some of those events and other Roman activities on my website. Since my site is in Dutch, here is the direct link to my Roman photo albums. The first album is about a Roman event in Trier, Germany, in August 2003. The second album is about my cycling holiday along the Limes in Germany, in june 2002. The third album is about a Roman cookery weekend with some friends. The fourth album is about a Roman event in Wervik, Belgium, in October 2001. I hope you enjoy them! Bene vale!
