  1. Hello all. I read somewhere that Octavia, wife of nero, was adopted out of Claudiu's family so that she and him could marry, but I don't know if this is true. If so, who adopted her? T
  2. Hey all. I was thinking of something for a long time. What do you all think happened in Agrippina minor's life to make her the way she was? Could it have been caligula? Eventss in her childhood or what? I'm not sure. Thanks and hope this makes for a good debate topic.
  3. Thanks all for your views and helping me out with this. It's hard to tell what is true and not true with movies and books and such. That's why I would ask. Although in I claudius, Livia did say to him, "Your father died of his wound."
  4. Hello all. Sorry about my last post about this person. It was all wrong and the spelling was off. Lol. I read somewhere that Claudius's first betrothal was to a girl called Amelia Lepeda. I was curious as to who this person was?
  5. Hello Gaius. You don't think his death was something of the empress Livia's doing. Do you? She did poison and banish many of the imperial family.
  6. Hi Primus Pilus. I tried to access the article you were talking about, but it says I have to log in and something about my library. What should I do?
  7. Thanks Flavia. I don't think I have hbo, but the series sounds interesting.
  8. Hello all. There is a mystery that I've been wondering about. What killed Drusus? Was it a woundin battle? Or was it poison? There is a lot to try to figure out with fiction books and what actually happened.
  9. That's very true. If Octavia wasn't his, then why would Agrippina want so badly for her son to be married to him to further his cahnces at being emperor. And, Britannicus, the same way. Why would she have been so concerned aboout Nero's chances if they wern't his.All I can say is, those two children suffered so much and it's very sad. ad smile.
  10. Octavia

    I, Claudius

Thanks fot the thread topics on I claudius. Also, I read that there was a bbc reading of the book by the guy that played Claudius. Do you know where I can listen to that at? Thanks again.
  11. Very interesting story, Flavia. I've never seen the hbo's rome. Is there any way I can see the last episode of that? Very interesting.
  12. Thanks all for informing me about the freed men of Claudius. Very interesting.
  13. No problem Gladius. Was only trying to help. I wasn't sure about Caligula going there, but I thought that maybe I read something about it.
  14. Hi all. Due to various sources, there are some that say Claudius put Messalina to death, but was it his advisers or himself? I personally think it was the advisers, for acording to I, Claudius, they handled pretty much everything concerning it and only had Claudius sign the death worent, only for him to find out the next morning.
  15. Hello all. I was wondering if anyone knew anything about the following advisers to the emperor claudius. Narcucus, Palace, Calistus and Vetellius. Vetellius sounds familliar, as their was an emperor by that name as well.
  16. Hello all. I was compairing the movie and book I, Claudius, to what I read in encyclopedias. The sources asay that both children were Claudius's, but also I remember from the book and movie, that FClaudius had speculations about them being his. We will never know, but I'm totally blind, so I was curious if from coins, busts and such, if there were any resymblence to their father in their faces? What do you all think of this debate?
  17. Thanks for that useful info. That really helps out a lot. I was curious as to what happened to the three children by Antony and Cleopatra.
  18. I do know that Claudius conquered Britain, but I don't know if Caligula ever attempted or not. You may have read about either Julius Caesar's attempt, or Claudius's conquest.
  19. From what I read, she had a son by Julius Caesar, called Caesarion and then three other children by Marcus Antonius. I think I remember reading somewhere that Octavian had Caesarion killed, but I don't exactly know the future of the other three.
  20. Hello everyone. I read that Cleopatra and Antony had three children and one was a girl called Cleopatra Selene. Doe sanyone kno0w mucha bout her? Also, what happened to the other children of Cleopatra?
  21. Thanks so much. I will do that. I'm new here and don't know my way around the board. How do you send a private message? As for Caligula,I think beingstruck by so much power probably took control of his mind.
  22. Hello everyone. I'm glad this thread is growing. As for the led pipe therry, it may have been it, but if that were the case, than why wasn't everyone in Rome insane or something? Maybe not, just my thought. As for my user name, it's claudia Octavia, after Claudius's daughter, but I wanted it to be Octavia or something. Got any ideas on how I can change that?
  23. That may be true. I never thought about that. But when you think about it, the possibility that family being killed, banished, ect, could have made him crazy. In the felm, I, Claudius, it was said that his head kept hurting and he fell sick and went in to a coma. When he woke up, he announced he was zues. Lol! I like these different oppinions.
  24. Thanks for the info about the other forum topic about Caligula. I'll check that out.
  25. Hi all. I read somewhere that Augustus had two sisters, Octavia Major an Minor. I know about the second Octavia, but does anyone know about the first?
