  1. Cool! "Conan, the Barbarian" is an all-time classic, so I have a feeling I
  2. And Paul the octopus has spoken... http://bleacherreport.com/articles/417694-...world-champions
  3. According to Mani, the parakeet, The Netherlands will win on Sunday... http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/conte...0070900580.html Let's see if Paul confirms Mani's prediction.
  4. Even though I'm quite indifferent as to who will win on Sunday, I'll be following Paul's predictions closely tomorrow... http://www.breakingnews.ie/sport/octopus-o...ion-464700.html
  5. Lol, that was a bit of a ridiculous demonstration. With a voice like that, I would not be surprised if a Neanderthal was laughed out of his cave by a Cro-Magnon.
  6. Excellent review, really fun to read. Thank you, Ursus!
  7. Yeah, yeah, Brazil seemed only to want to play around with the ball instead of kicking some... I was at the stadium yesterday and almost froze to death (temperature around 0 and very windy!), especially during the first half when there wasn't much reason to cheer and jump around. Only those damn vuvuzelas kept me awake. I'll definitely be cheering for South Africa tonight though.
  8. "God save the Green" - so say the Americans.
  9. For patriotic reasons, I'll go with Brazil.
  10. Not the first time they try to market ancient beer/cocktail recipes. Last year, I posted something similar about an old concoction found in Mesopotamia (see link). Interestingly, the same professor is mentioned in both articles and... lo and behold, the same brewery! http://www.unrv.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=9577&hl= Hmm, Midas Touch or Chateau Jiahu? Tough call.
  11. ...those midget gladiators...
  12. Yeah, me too. P.S. Totally unrelated question, I know, but is this the guy from Bones (TV series)?
  13. How many Rome-themed commercials does Pepsi have?? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cjk45ScXZq0...feature=related
  14. Another good reason to visit Ibiza. Probably the only good reason to visit Ibiza. Unless you're into wild parties (and morning-after hangovers)...
  15. Probably because it originated in the region of Latium, which was inhabited by an ancient people known as Latini.
  16. That's probably because the Neanderthal genome sequencing is still incomplete. Here's another interesting article on the subject.
  17. Many people alive today possess some Neanderthal ancestry, according to a landmark scientific study. The finding has surprised many experts, as previous genetic evidence suggested the Neanderthals made little or no contribution to our inheritance. The result comes from analysis of the Neanderthal genome - the "instruction manual" describing how these ancient humans were put together. The genomes of 1% to 4% of people in Eurasia come from Neanderthals. More on BBC News
