    Deification

The concept seems to come from the Greeks. It's called apotheosis, from the Greek words apo + theoz, sorry, the forum won't allow me to enter HTML code. The Romans legislated this process (the Senate required two witnesses). However the deification of Romulus & Drusilla was taken for granted.

    Advances In Medicine

This is a really interesting question. Galen did much for the physical healing, so much so his texts were read for a millennium, but I know of no treatment, or even diagnosis of post traumatic stress. T.J. Cornell mentions in The Beginnings of Rome that the Romans developed a sense of militarism which, out of necessity, pervaded every aspect of their culture. And the ancients were accustomed to death. So some might say the Romans were unaffected. Yet I think it must have existed. Look at the picture Germanicus paints. Scary stuff.

    Homosexuals In Rome Society

This is a spin on Ursus' answer: F.R. Cowell mentioned in his Life In Ancient Rome how the Romans could never satisfy their need for manpower, even with the large number of slaves taken in battle. Since homosexuality doesn't produce offspring, you can see why traditionalists would have a problem with it.

    Rome And The Occult

Black Magic & Black Arts seem to be modern terms for medieval practices. But perhaps my understanding of what these are is lacking. In the late Empire there were people (almost always in the Greek east) such as Iamblichus who detailed the calling of daimones, but such practices are foreign to Latin culture. Pliny the Elder went on many tirades against the magi in his Natural History.

    Christian Persecution

SALVETE OMNES, S.V.B.E.V. Sorry if I'm late to give assistance, I found this wonderful website an hour ago. I recently finished two books on the subject which I thought were very helpful: Christianizing the Roman Empire by Ramsay MacMullen and The Christians As The Romans Saw Them by Robert Louis Wilken. BONAM FORTVNAM ET VALE BENE.
