I just bought a beautiful, brand new, rosewood and mahogany Celtic harp last night!!! I can't wait until it gets here!! I can't imagine what possessed me (I spent about three weeks' pay on the thing) but I am so excited about it!!!!

I got a pretty good deal on it, harp, case, two books, extra strings and tuning tool for about 300 bucks.

This is the harp I'm getting, but I found it as a combo deal on Ebay instead of buying it from here.

I got this email today. Normally I don't pay too much attention to forwarded emails unless they are cute, but I read about this EXACT SAME THING in Newsweek about a month or so ago.

Stupid government. If the American people are not sufficiently angered by this, then I officially give up on America. And if this bill actually passes, then it's really true, democracy doesn't work anymore.

On a lighter note, after much work this morning we got the art show cleaned up (I worked extra to help out afterwards) and I got all of my artwork home safe thanks to my mom for giving me a ride home today. I found out today that I almost won "choice of show", which is considerably more annoying than not winning it when I thought I didn't stand a chance

Oh, and I posted the pictures of the flowers in my gallery, come check them out! I am so proud!!!

So I got my first tattoo today It's a tribal design, on the front of my left hip. (Painful place for a tat btw. Mine is pretty big, too.) I went with KT (dad's girlfriend. She's really awesome.) and tomorrow we're going to Harrisburg to go shopping. I'm having so much fun!!

My first two days weren't as great...on the whole ride up and yesterday too I was feeling a bit ill, and at my graduation party yesterday I was half asleep and a bit nauseous. I'm feeling much better now though, so it's all good.

I'm looking forward to getting a manicure/hairdo and getting some really cheap clothes tommorrow!

I just went to move some of the ointment that I have to put on it around, because there was a dry spot on it where my pants had rubbed, and some of the ink came off on my hand! Is this normal??? (at the very least I'll make a mess of the bedsheets)

Well, to make a perfect end to the clusterfluck week...I wound up having (minor) surgery today.

I had a cyst near my belly button...as a result I had to be cut open and it drained. I had to remove the jewelery until it heals which means it'll probably grow shut and need repierced. *sigh* That's the last thing I wanted (well rejection would be worse but...) but right now I'm more worried about the wound healing than losing my navel ring.

The PA that did the procedure is awesome though. Nephele you would love him. He's covered in tattoos, had zippers in the sleeves of his lab coat (so that he could roll them up easily) and a leather watch with an iron cross on it. Had the radio on while he did the procedure. And halfway through cutting into me and says "have you ever been to Burning Man? You have to go to Burning Man."

We spent the whole time talking about Burning Man while he was cutting the cyst out. LOL And then afterwards he took me into his office to show me a picture from Burning Man. LOL!!!

Wow it's been a long while since I wrote something in here!

I'm really starting to enjoy my work, not that I wouldn't rather be home, but because I don't have anything to worry about when I come home. It's wonderful! My boss switched my hours this week, so I start at 6 AM and get out at 12 PM...not bad, not bad at all. I have the whole afternoon off.

Life has been crazy though, not so much on a physical level but on a spiritual one. I'm not complaining but I could do with a break sometimes. With Samhain fast approaching it only promises to get crazier!!

Just ordered a bunch of beads from Fire Mountain, well actually, will send the order in soon. I can't wait until they get here, I have a few ideas for jewelery which I can't wait to make!! The harp playing isn't going as well as I'd hoped, I seem to have lost interest while I was getting all of the issues straightened out. However, I hope to get some time to play soon. This weekend promises to be devoted entirely to rest, laying around on the couch, screwing around on the computer...etc. I'll have the whole house to myself and I'll NEED the rest, so I can't wait.

I have been fluish all day (and unfortunately this is upsetting my stomach). I certainly hope I feel better tomorrow!! I don't want to call off work, as I know my coworkers need me to be there, and I actually like them, so I'd hate to disappoint. Flu or no, I'm going through with my Full Moon rite tonight. It should only take about a half an hour...consists only of chanting, really and some 'basic' energy work. And a journal entry which I'm doing as soon as I'm done here. Not stressful at all, and even though I'm sick it is important to me to keep up with it.

On Saturday I didn't get to go to the horse show, so I went to the Farmer's Market with Kathy. I am sure glad I did (I'm not disappointed at all about missing the horse show anymore. I was there for a little bit.) I met three people who I could talk about paganism with. The first was the salesgirl at a clothing store; she approached me and asked about my jewlery. It turns out she's Wiccan and we talked for about fifteen minutes on the subject of religion. The second was Robin who works at Brigid's House (a pagan store). We talked for at least an hour and a half about all sorts of things, and then I found out that someone we know is also pagan. More "wanna-be" than anything else but it was still cool talking to her.

Such a warm and open pagan community here leaves me longing for such contact when I return home. There are many pagans where my dad lives, but when I still lived there I was not able to appreciate it. On Sunday I was parusing around Witchvox and I ran into the NEPA pagan group. I quickly joined, and I'm hoping that through the NEPA group I will make lots of real life pagan friends in my area. I've actually considered writing pagan essays for the local newspaper and seeing if they'll print them. It's probably not a good idea to do that (I live in a very conservative area) but I feel it's really a step in the right direction towards tolerance and acceptance. I'll have to think about it for a while (am I prepared for all the hate mail? Or I could always write under a pen name.)

One person came back to a pagan forum that I'm a part of, and already is trying to bait me into something. I'm flat out not taking the bait. If she wants to play that game, she can play it in private. I will not be baited into a public argument if that's what she wants. I'm hoping it just blows over but I think she'll cause more trouble if someone else takes her bait.

I finally finished the bird bath stand for Kathy. Boy was it ever a pain in the ass! The leaves I forged kept breaking off...I overworked the poor things...and they had to be MIG welded back on too many times to count. I had difficulties with everything...and was really starting to feel like I couldn't do it, but with a lot of help from Al, I did. And it's done!!! I also made my first horse shoe the other day; I gotta say, really not bad for a first try. Of course I wouldn't put it on a horse but still...and the thing I like most about it is the holes, because I never was able to punch holes before.

I just have to remember how far I've come, when I start to feel bad about what I can't do. When I got here, I couldn't even light a fire; now I'm doing things I couldn't even dream of doing before. I really do think that I have the knowledge (experience only comes with...well...experience!) to do what I need to do when I get back home. And I am truly enjoying it!
  7. Lost_Warrior
My navel ring did NOT grow shut, in fact...the hole shrunk quite a bit but I was able to stretch it back open, and I now have a beautiful new titanium barbell from Industrial Strength. It's a shorter barbell, at first I thought it was too short, but I LOVE the shorter barbell. It feels so much more comfortable than the longer one I had been wearing.

(You can see the nasty surgery scar that is *slowly* healing and fading, and yes, my stomach is that hairy LOL I should totally take a better pic)

And last night, I got my ears pierced again! I've wanted a second set of holes for about 6 years now, and I only recently decided on 14g mostly because there are some REALLY AWESOME 14g earrings I want to be able to wear. So I'm now wearing a brand new shiny pair of 14g stainless captive bead rings.

The piercer is awesome, I called him last night when I got home from work and he said he wasn't going to be in today, and he was going to close up shop early but if he knew I was coming he'd stay. So I hopped in the car and drove down there. He was super friendly and knew what he was doing, too.

I laughed, he had the needle lined up and said "OK, on the count of three. One, Two, *JAB*. OK I cheated." He had the jewelery in before I even realized it.

The second ear: "Well you already know my trick so I'm just gonna do this *JAB*." If I would have flinched I didn't have TIME to. LOL

I love my new holes. Pics coming soon. '

I gave Dean a nice tip and will totally go back to see him again if I need anything else done.

This week has been filled with work on my personal path. I've renamed it Pathway of the Gods (on the suggestion of someone on Covenspace.com; I was clear out of ideas) because Walking With the Gods is just...not poetic at all. I've done a lot of work on the actual *path* part of it. Designing and working the bugs out of curricula, deciding on appropriate coursework, and actually *doing* the coursework myself. On top of that, I've written the Dedication and Initiation (both forming a two-part Initiation Rite that I am planning to do myself on Samhain.) This was a challenge because, it had to be significant not only to myself, but to any seekers that might come my way (I'm not taking on any students until I've done all of the coursework myself, though, and maybe more). I wanted the ritual to be as "standard" as possible while still allowing for personal elements to be added in that would make it meaningful to everyone.

On top of all of this, I've been slowly separating the actual Pathwork from the things I've written in my blog so far. Basically this involves keeping separate in my head "Pathwork and Coursework" from "essays written by someone on the path". I haven't removed anything from my blog yet; there are a few things I'm thinking of adapting to pathwork but I don't think I'll actually remove anything that's already there.

I've been getting a lot of help on all of this from Mari, who is an elder priestess of the Gwyddonic Order and the founder of the College of the Blue Butterfly. I've actually been giving a lot of thought to joining the Gwyddonic Order myself as their beliefs very closely match mine (to the point that it's downright scary.) I've decided that I really need to get my Pathwork done before I consider doing work on any other path; it may well be that I *never* end up becoming a Gwiddon; or it may be that in a few years, I've devoted myself entirely to that path. Only time will tell.

I went shopping today and before I went, I asked that I might find a robe suitable for ritual use. I should have been more specific; I had envisioned a dark blue, or purple, or green or even black robe, plain, and open up the front (to be tied). Or at least a solid dark color. What I *got* was a handmade and used (so slightly stained), WHITE robe with embroidered pink and purple flowers!! It's nothing like what I wanted, but it's perfect. Damnit, the Gods have a sense of humor! Could this be payback for my crack about the Lesser Banishing Ritual of the Love Bug? (long story, don't ask LOL)

On a more mundane note, I'm still jobless. Turns out Dave really DID only want a subcontractor. No fault of mine, just a misunderstanding. I can't do that job obviously, unless I have a shop to work in, which I don't. I did get ahold of William Poust, who is a blacksmith in the area. He doesn't have anything for me either, but he seemed really cool, and he said he'd keep and eye and an ear out for me. If I don't get any leads this week, I'm going to start looking into different jobs, saving up money and trying hard to get a shop set up. This is not going as planned! I only hope that I don't forget everything by the time I have a chance to start working again!! Either way, I am NOT going to work at one of the busier locations in town. I really do enjoy working with people; but only in small doses. I can't handle another experience like this past winter.

This is what I've been doing for the past two days.

Yesterday: a volcano pendant. Didn't turn out as planned...had a hard time with it actually, but the longer I have it for, the more I like it.

It's made of silver and that is an orange sapphire.

Today: my completed shrine to Brighid. Painting this took a LOT out of me. But through the experience of setting up the shrine and doing my first shift work, I learned a LOT about this recent depression.

My indigo body painting: I got carried away. I started with the flame on my shoulder...and I was having so much fun doing this (it is very relaxing and meditative) that I just kept going.

I can't believe how good this pic came out. This was taken AFTER my prayer/meditative work, after setting up my shrine, and the painting. I'm GLOWING.

I finally got to change my new 14g earrings today!!! I put in my Shorty Goddess Spirals by Little Seven (actually called Shorty spirals but they're a smaller version of their Goddess spirals)

    And a close up:

Those are actually 18g LeRoi flatbacks in the bottom holes. They're meant for labret piercings, mostly, but they work great for earrings. A little difficult to put in and remove, but awesome for long term wear - just make sure the balls are tightly screwed on every day. No post jabbing you in the side of the neck, no clutch back that is almost guaranteed to fall off!

My computer crashed, and I had to restore my hard drive. Read: lost EVERYTHING! That program I used to paint digital pictures? GONE! Some of my poetry and writing? GONE! Everything. GONE! I've been expecting this for a while, all I can say is thank the gods for restore cd's. I guess it's about time my computer got a good cleaning...but I've lost my instant messengers, and I'm not entirely sure when I'll have them back, so I may not be online for a while. And man, IE is slow. I'm gonna download FireFox again FIRST!!

Oh, and I also lost my extensive list of Roman links.

[Edit] It's still not working right. I think it will probably crash again. You won't see me around as much untill everything gets back to normal. I can't really even access my email. FireFox is also very slow, and it took me three tries to get it to download properly. I'm having all kinds of problems. ::cry::

So, I got my hair permed today. I'd never done it before, and I must say, while the process isn't the most enjoyable in the world, I am really happy with the result. It's hard to imagine what I would look like with curly hair, so I really didn't know what to expect. Everyone says it smells really bad...this doesn't smell *bad* but rather odd....I think it smells more than a bit like...corned beef seasoning. Yes, my hair smells like a highly spiced piece of meat I don't mind though. It's not as bad as the time I stank of burning feathers from something I did in shop class. I can't wait to see what everyone at school says.

I can hardly believe tomorrow is Wednesday already...the AP exams are closing in...I'm not thrilled about taking them. I'm sure they will be torture can't wait to have them over with though.

I put in a job application, the place wasn't officially hiring but they gave me an application anyway, so I filled it out. Its a start anyhow.

I'm a member of a website called TC. It's great, the people are great, for the most part, and the conversations are wonderful. The one thing that really bugs me is that the hosts are a bit erm...pushy. And one thing they are VERY pushy about is that each reply must contain a quote, made using the quote button, of the post you're replying to. It doesn't matter if you are making a general reply to everyone, you still have to quote *something*. It's very annoying, but I don't think the quote button is the issue that I have with it. It's the attitude of the staff about it. They're trying to make an SMF forum into a Beehive forum, because they "hate drill-down forums" and "they can't do their job if they can't follow the threads" so they want a link back to some thread or other in *every post*. Done in a specific way. Ok, not my fault they can't figure out what people are saying. They must have the conversational awareness of dead flies, if they can't figure out when a post is in general to everyone and when someone is replying to a specific person.

I really wish there was another website around where I could talk about paganism the same way I can talk about it there.

I'm REALLY hoping the issues between my coworkers have been resolved. I have to go to work today, and I really don't want to. I am so freakin' sick of the DRAMA around that place. If I have to deal with 8 hours of one particular person not doing her job, making messes and stirring up trouble (I'm starting to wish she HAD walked out) I'm going to lose it. Just two more weeks and I'm FREE!!

I got my dragon's blood oil today, and I'm really disappointed to find out that it doesn't smell at all like dragon's blood. It smells like carrier oil, and that's it. I know that Myrrh resin steeped and heated in oil makes a wonderful perfume, as I'm wearing some right now (I discovered it by accident; my Myrrh stinks to high heaven when actually burned, so I put it with some mineral oil in one of those potpourri burner things.) I don't know why the dragon's blood didn't work that way, maybe I'll try making my own.

I do love my Myrrh perfume though.

I finally got a new ISP, and I think the kinks are still being worked out of it as it's a brand new connection. It seems to be working quite well now, but I was having major problems with it before. If you call Epix tech support, they tell you that you need a new computer to be able to connect to the internet um...NO. So we hooked up with Chilitech. I hope it works. If not, well it can't get too much worse than Epix and it's cheaper.

The rough draft is finally done! I've sent it to PP for editing, hopefully it will be published soon (and NO "sneak peaks" you guys ) YAY! I took long enouh with it...I really hope it turns out to be worth the wait. I may write another one sometime soon but lets get this one off the ground first

I've moved my bird and flower art into it's own gallery as I'm sure some of you noticed. (it's easier to show it to people that way...I have a few friends and relatives that love to look at my artwork ) and I'm hoping to be adding more soon.

I've got two study halls every day now, YAY I'll have lots of time to work on writing, actually do my chem homework, and read the books that my english teacher has been thinking I've read...

Oh yea, I got my report card today. 83 in AP chem again! YAY! EIGHTY-THREE! EIGHTY-THREE! EIGHTY-THREE! WhOoT! lol I feel special...

I'm really sad to report that Lasairian died this morning.

I don't know what happened. I changed his water on Saturday and he was fine. I fed him Saturday. He took one bite of food (I think it was too big a bite. More than one pellet stuck together or something) and went to the top of the bowl. Just hanging there. He stopped eating.

All day yesterday he was either at the top or bottom of the bowl...totally just like 'meh'. I could tell the spirit wasn't in him. He ceased to be Lasairian and started being 'fishy' again.

This morning I looked at him and knew he was a goner...he wasn't dead but I considered flushing him to put him out of misery. At about 8.15 or 8.30 this morning...I was at work...I got a 'flash vision' like a window opened in my head and there he was...his old self.

I knew right then. When I came home he was gone.

    Scented oils from resin:
This one is extremely easy; I actually discovered it by accident.

    You need:

~Some carrier oil (grapeseed works well, so does mineral oil; I haven't tried any others. Recommend grapeseed for skin use)

~Resin incense (such as Frankincense, Myrrh, Copal or other) I can tell you from experience that Dragon's blood does not work well at all sad and Myrrh works phenomenally. mr blue

~One of those liquid potpourri burner things with a tealight candle (mine is made from soapstone)

~Of course, a bottle to put the oil in when you're done, and a funnel.

    Here's what you do:

~Grind up the resin and put it in the burner thing, with some oil. For a strong scented oil you'll need to use a good bit of resin; the more resin, the stronger the scent.

~Light the tealight, and let it simmer for about 20-30 minutes (depending). You should see bubbles start to come up from the resin, and smell it releasing it's scent. When this happens, let it "cook" just a little bit longer. Blow out the candle and let it cool, then take the candle out of the thing and pour both oil and resin into the bottle (the oil will still be warm).

~You might need to make a couple of batches to fill the bottle because most of those burner things don't hold much oil.

This makes nice anointing oil or just perfume oil. It has a subtle, yet very long lasting scent. (I'm wearing some amber myrrh oil that I put on at about 5 30 AM; it's now 2 04 PM and it's still going strong.) It can be rubbed all over your body, because the scent isn't strong or "harsh".

(Do shake well before applying because the resin will settle out. You'll get bits of resin on your skin but they can be brushed off. Shaking helps the scent.) You probably will only smell carrier oil when you sniff the bottle, but when it's applied the scent comes out.

Enjoy! Oh, and let me know what other resins work with this process. So far I've tried Myrrh (wonderful!), Amber (works well with the Myrrh, never tried it by itself) and Dragon's Blood (doesn't work so well).

    Salt Scrub

    Another extremely easy recipe:

    You need:

~Salt (sea salt is preferable. Lacking that, table salt works)

    ~Baking soda

    ~Essential oils of your choice

    To make the scrub:

~Mix some salt and baking soda in a bowl (more salt than baking soda...maybe...one part soda to two parts salt? I don't measure anything...)

~Add your oils, amount depending on type of oil, and personal preference.

~Mix well and spoon into a jar

    To use scrub:

    ~Wet skin

~Rub salt scrub over skin and then rinse

Lol computer is finally up and running. FINALLY. Took long enough. LOL I had a heck of a time with my internet connection, updating Norton and the like. I have to get ADAware too again. Finally got my IM back, and I'm working on getting my channel back soon (I lost my channel because I hadn't been on. They didn't realize my comp crashed). Lol so I should be more active again now.

Monty Python is on PBS on Wednesday nights. 8:00. XD

My computer will be back this week (hopefully) or next week, unless something else happens. YAY!! I'm sick of having to use library computers, or my friends', because the library computers are always blocking things (I couldn't make this entry yesterday, they blocked access to my blog I don't know why. I know there's nothing inappropriate in here...) and they blocked access to the "Romana Humanitas" section of the forums (possibly because it mentions wine? I have no idea. They are so stupid). I can totally not wait to get my computer back, not only can I not do anything at my school and I don't like going to the library (where I can't do some things) but I need it for some of my school work. I missed out on some extra credit points in chem because of no internet access. I'm not too worried about the chem but I'm a bit peeved by the whole thing.

On a lighter note, its warm here, and sunny, and should be close to 70 degrees F by the end of the week. Yay, I'm sick of the cold. Spring has sprung!! I got some more drawings done, but I cannot post them yet, for obvious reasons lol. I can't wait untill I can upload them though.

Can someone sign into my chatroom to keep it active? Hopefully it has not been "decreated" since I lost my computer and couldn't be there to keep the room active. That would majorly suck. Gah.

Yesterday we had the first real snowfall of the year. We had an assembly at school, meaning we did not go home early (the presentation was painfully loud by the way...I had my fingers in my ears and it didn't help). Because we did not go home early, the buses could not get to the school because of roads being closed. My bus left about the time I should have gotten home. We got stuck at one of the stops, and I hear that after I got off they got stuck AGAIN When I finally left, the power was going out. Why didn't they re schedule the assembly instead of risking all of our lives for a stupid presentation? I liked the presentation but it was not worth that. I swear, sometimes people just don't think.

By the way I live in a tiny mountain town where snow is commonplace and the roads are NOTORIOUS in the winter...a good number of them aren't even paved, let alone maintained. So again...
  20. Lost_Warrior
Well it snowed. We got one heck of a snow storm in the middle of April. And the power was out all day, but now it's back on again. I hope it stays on.

This week has been very stressful, but I'm extremely glad that it is over. I have tomorrow off too, and I'm really enjoying my time off. Due to the power outage I had nothing to do (other than shoveling 18 inches of snow) so I spent most of the day in meditation (when not trying to keep warm. I was huddled around an oil lamp for heat. It was pathetic.)

I didn't get the ring I was bidding on, I got "sniped" at the last minute. Oh well, I'm sure another will come along. I'm going to let my mom on the comp soon, because she wants to check her Ebay auction.
  21. Lost_Warrior
I finally got my butt in gear and wrote that article about Morrigan for the site. It's in for editing/feedback now and it should be published sometime soon I hope. I did that a few days ago. I also made my mom a snake out of Sculpey clay. It's beautiful, and I can't believe I did so well. Neither can she; I had a hard time convincing her I actually made it.

Still looking for a job, but I'm enjoying the time off. I went back to the two places where I put in applications; one doesn't have any positions open right now, but that's OK by me because I kind of knew that when I put in the app. I was just hoping... At the other place I was assured that my application had been received, but it was in a big pile on the manager's desk and she hadn't gotten to look at it but would soon. So I reminded her, in person, which is always good.

The other day I received some great news!! My friend Mari's son Thomas got his kidney transplant! Poor Mari has been through hell trying to get the transplant for her son, first attempting to be a living donor (but the doctors said she had to lose weight; which she did. Then they said the wouldn't do it because she doesn't have the right insurance, and due to certain family concerns she "wasn't allowed" to take her son to another hospital that would do it.) Then, out of the blue, she got the call that her son got a kidney!! Thank the Gods I'm calling it a miracle! He's doing extremely well; the surgeon said that his kidney "just slid into place and fit like it was meant to be there". It was producing urine before the incision was even closed!

Part of my pathwork involves studying a form of divination, so I've been amusing myself by doing Rune readings for people on a pagan forum I frequent; it's a "closed" forum meaning only members can see it so I made a post offering to do the readings for people. I'm not about to try it on one of the larger forums because when you do that, you end up with literally hundreds of requests and that's way too much to handle. I'm almost out of "guinea pigs" from there, so if anyone here is interested let me know!! I'll be glad to do it, but it might be a few days before I get to it.

Yesterday I was looking for a Celtic ring with a green stone, and I stumbled upon Lytha Studios. I fell in love with a pentagram pendant and my mom fell in love with a Tree of Life pendant. Well, we both fell in love with a lot of things but those are the two I ordered yesterday. This place could really get me in trouble; I'm already amassing a HUGE mental wish list!

It's finally nice out. Finally. I read for 3 hours yesterday, and a little bit today. It was nice all week, but I was trapped in school . they're saying we could get snow again tuesday, but i hope not I'm sick of snow. Sick of it. Good bye, snow. It's 55.2 degrees F here, which is actually warm for North Eastern PA, where in the winter being anywhere above freezing is considered warm. The mountains are beautiful, but best enjoyed in late spring through early fall (the fall leaves around here are SPECTACULAR).

My chickens are enjoying the lovely weather, and I managed to rip the end off of my toe going to check on them. Go me. I can't even perform such a mundane task without injuring myself in some way I hope I didn't bleed on the good rug (by "good" rug I mean a probably $10,000 persian/oriental/something wool rug that we got for free. They didn't set the machine up right though, so the pattern looks pretty bad on the one side. Oh well. Mom will be mad if I got blood on it.) BTW why did the Gods make toes so hard to bandage??

I made Irish Potatoes Friday night. Cream cheese+powdered sugar+coconut+cinnamon=one hyper teenager. They are delicious, though difficult and messy to make. We didn't have enough sugar and now the ones at the bottom of the container are all squished and their cream cheese is all coming out!!! My poor potatoes!!! (Yes I am aware that I am a mental reject. I actually do feel bad for them somehow. I'm going to eat them anyway... )

My favorite Sunday night shows are on tonight, except they took off The War at Home (at least for this week) which is ticking me off, because I love that show. And I hope they soon get rid of "Free Ride" because I am seriously missing American Dad. Even a rerun of American Dad is better than Free Ride. At least it's not Arrested Development though

This week was actually pretty good, all things considered. Still, I'm tired. I was sick over the weekend, and started out the week not being able to eat well, so I was already off to a nasty start. Add to that hormone fluctuations and a few other things, and well, it went well but I'm glad it's over.

My beads from Fire Mountain came yesterday, and I made a couple of bracelets. I'm not entirely happy with them, for various reasons, but I am mostly satisfied with how they came out.

    Elemental Fire bracelet:

    Elemental Water bracelet:

The Firelands: (a single image of a volcano in Hawaii. Photomanip. The original image looks nothing like this, it can be found Here. )

    Enjoy!!

(now please, go crawl in a hole and die!)

That's what I felt like saying most of the day today.

I had to work the deli this morning, and I HATE deli in the morning. I'm willing to do it, but it is far from my favorite thing, I was alone on deli this morning and still not entirely sure what I was supposed to be doing or how. I had no problem with *being* on deli because they wanted to train the new girl on register, and so they asked me to switch over to deli. Of course, the new girl was sick and wasn't going to be there, so I got up earlier and got to work earlier for no apparent reason.

I started out having a very good head start on things, however that quickly went downhill. We were busy as all GET OUT! (something I also felt like saying most of the day) and it took me an hour to do things that should have taken fifteen minutes. The chicken was frozen when I needed it, someone has messed with the temperature settings on everything so the hot dogs were cold and the soup was scorching, I had no time to make the pizzas, I also had to bake things on top of everything else (something I never did get finished.) I felt like I was trying to be in three places at once, I cannot POSSIBLY reach the pizza oven from the deli counter, I just can not do it! Then a woman comes in and says she wants a "regular sub" and I asked her what kind of sub she wanted. She replied "a REGULAR sub. I want a REGULAR sub." as if I'm supposed to know what that means. I said (perhaps a bit testy at this point) "what kind of sub do you want? we have ham, turkey, italian..." she cut me off with "I want a REGULAR sub. I don't need your attitude. I'm leaving." at which point my manager comes out to see what's going on, asks the lady what she wants and she repeats the same answer. Of course, my manager does not know what she means either, and is trying to explain to the woman that "regular sub" is simply not in our terminology and no one here knows could possibly know what she means...(turns out she meant an *american* sub...something that I'd never even heard of before I started work!)

They told me that we were usually that busy in the mornings, but I'd never seen it that busy. It was insane, and they told me "this is normal" (looking at the paperwork at the end of my shift, and the amount of sales, I do not think that it was normal at all actually ). Because I *love* deli so much, and managed to stop myself from simply running around in circles screaming, I am being asked to work deli tommorow morning too, because I "need more practice". Which I do, but first I'd like some time to get my head on straight.

I had a couple of bright spots in my day, the first being that I found a silver quarter in my drawer as I was counting it first thing this morning. When I did my paperwork at the end of my shift, it came out *to the penny* which has only happened once before. I was ecstatic.

I was driving home and a lady was walking down the road, she signalled me that she wanted a ride. I almost drove right past, but something told me "stop for this lady" and even though I really don't pick up hitch hikers on principle, I stopped. (I really don't know why I did. It was like I just could not drive past. Something seemingly outside of myself removed my foot from the gas pedal to the brake, without my even thinking about it). I asked her where she was going and it was only a few miles out of my way so I said "hop in" and I took her home. (she had wrecked her car). She was very nice, and very thankful that I had given her a ride. I recognized her, she comes into my store alot although I did not know her name. She had signalled for a ride because she had mistaken me for her friend, but I stopped and I'm glad I did, the distance she had to go would have been horrible to walk, and it started to rain.

I've finally paid the girl to get her car fixed, and they actually decided they wanted less money than they'd need to fix it. I wrote her a check, she wrote me a reciept (which I locked up in my safe). So that is taken care of. Now all I need is to pay my insurance and fix my car, and looking at my account balance I may just be able to do that without going into my savings! I am very much joyful about that, as the money I had fervently squirrelled away is money I had planned to use for my trip to Minnesota (hopefully with some left over when I get back).

I haven't had a "sugar episode" in almost two weeks, which, if you had seen me two weeks previous, seems to be quite an accomplishment. I'm doing quite well now actually, and still getting better. My next challenge to myself is to get up at a reasonable hour. I lack the self discipline to pull that one off.

I've been getting swelled up and itchy fingers and toes from the cold (happens every winter, grr) and nothing was working for them. I don't know what made me think of it, but I have some aromatherapy oil that I mixed up, I have no tincture of benzoin and the scent does not last long enough to be of any real value for aromatherapy. So for some odd reason or another, I rubbed the stuff into my hands and feet. My fingers and toes (which had been itching terribly, and making me do the "itchy foot dance") did not itch at all while I was at work yesterday, and the swelling is considerably down in them today. (It does help that I've been trying to avoid the cold as well.)

I was playing around in the kitchen and decided to see what I could come up with that was something different. I wanted oatmeal, and so I started playing around with it. Here's what I came up with:

Use actual rolled oats, not quick oats, please. ::shudders at the thought of glue quick oats:: Make the oats with milk, instead of water (just make it how you usually do, follow the directions on the box, whatever). When you're boiling the milk put a few shakes of cinnamon, an allspice berry or two, and a few cloves (I did not crush the cloves or allspice; you might want to). When the milk is boiling, add the oatmeal and cook as usual. (Don't freak when at first the cinnamon forms little lumps that look kinda funky...they'll go away). Serve with a spoonful of brown sugar.

My next recipe is for fried apples. It's simple enough. Cut the apples into tiny pieces (not too tiny, bite sized) and coat them in brown sugar mixed with cinnamon. Heat some butter in a frying pan (get it pretty hot) and fry 'em up! Don't cook them *too* fast, you don't want the insides still cold and the outsides burnt

And for good measure, spiced cider: Put your cider in a microwave safe mug, and nuke it for a few minutes. While it's in the microwave, crush up a few cloves and allspice berries (not too fine) and put them in a teaball. When the cider is good and hot, put the teaball in, and let it "steep" for about five minutes. Of course, you can probably do this on the stove, but for a redneck like me the micro is just as good. So is a soup can on a hot car engine, but I digress. (just kidding about that last one. No, really!)

If you haven't noticed, cloves are my favorite spice, followed by allspice (followed by cinnamon, ginger, and garlic. Not all together, of course)
