I'm trying to research chariot racing and i was wondering if anyone could help me. There's plenty of infomation on the circus's used for racing, but not much on where the four factions were based. All i've found out is that the horses were stabled in the ninth region, but i've no idea what this looked like, or what the stables looked like, or if the horses were stabled with the trainers, or were there specific faction stables? Okay, lots of questions. But if anyone can help or direct me in the direction of any sources that can answer my questions i would be eternally grateful! Livia

That's my gut feeling. They would have been with thier legion, but also running around for the proconsul, perhaps not even in the province. If you do find anything, i'd be grateful. L. Marcella

Just wanted to ask a question about legati. I'm thinking 1st C here, but if a Legate was in charge of a legion (where there was more than one legion in a province), where would he have been stationed? Near the proconsul in the administrative capitol or would he take the place of a prefect in a fort and live in the praetorum. Were there forts that had both prefects and legati? Thanks! Livia Marcella
