  2. Certainly, thanks for the reminder. Is it in Cyprus?
  3. I see a guard tower. Is it somewhere in the West Bank?
  4. Tuam matrem gogoogli. Duas puellae unum poculumque inveni.

Or should that be' De Duabus Puellis Uno Poculo'?

  5. I nearly got 'bottled' while I was in the States, because I told a patron of a bar that we Brits refer to American football as "colonial football"! This is all I know about the fans of sport...
  6. A lump of corroded metal unearthed during a dig on the site of a new London hotel is a rare Roman mount of the Greek monster Medusa. ...read the full article at the Evening Standard.
  7. Thanks for the words of support, guys. I assure you, Melvadius, I am doing it in an Olympic-size swimming pool. And Neil, the criterion for me shaving my eyebrows still stands at raising
  8. Hello, all. I would like to offer my apologies for my prolonged absence; part-time, postgraduate study, coupled with my full-time job, has left very little time for leisure. More specifically, I would like to apologise to the admin team for my 'sabbatical' starting around the time you guys gave me two books to review. I have not forgotten, and I have read both books - and I have every intention of reviewing them (honest!). Anyway... On to what makes my return all the more impudent. In between working and studying, I have been training for a sponsored swim to raise money for St Mungo's Homelessness Service. I have already raised
  9. Also, about 4:30 into the film, the woman in the family really looks like she has a black eye.
  10. I think a little bit of sick came out when I discovered that Nick Griffin gave his party election broadcast in front of a copy of Edward Gibbon's A History of the Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire.
  11. Happy birthday, mate. I hope fun was had by all.
  12. It would be nice if Pertinax and Andrew Dalby could come. That said, I have had some contact with Pertinax, and he did mention his return to UNRV, as well as the possibility of him gracing us with his presence during our next meet. Apparently we must look to his coming, at first light, on the fifth day. At dawn, we should look to the East... Seriously, though, if a trip takes place in the South, I may well be able to persuade a few of my friends - who are studying the Classical World - to come along with their cars.
  13. As big as it is, Kent seems like a good venue: Lullingstone, Richborough, the 'Painted House' etc. Just a thought.
  14. I would only be able to afford a trip to London - the fruits of minimum wage are, you see, quite minimal... If all goes to plan with my funding applications etc., I should be doing an MA in Classics at UCL by September 2010, so you guys should, in theory, be on my doorstep. I propose we do two trips: one up North in Easter; and one in the South in September...? Any thoughts? Also, apologies for my recent absence from UNRV - I have been in the process of moving house, starting a job and applying for Master's programs.
  15. Thank you very much, all. While I have every intention to go on to further study, I have to address the question of how to fund it. It is now time to get a job. Unfortunately, this is a lot easier said than done... *sigh*
  16. I received my Bachelor results yesterday, and I was presently surprised to discover that I am now the proud owner of a First Class Honours degree! Apparently, my dissertation is to receive some form of commendation! I would just like to thank everybody in UNRV who took the time to answer any questions I had in regards to my subject area. As for my future plans, however... I shall probably have to get back to you on that.
  17. Is it Pelusium (Tell el-Farama) in the Sinai?
