  1. Well, my five year old daughter wanted recently desperately ABBAs Greatest Hits, so i listend to it too... My favourite 5 5. Mamma Mia 4. Voulez Vous 3. SOS 2. Fernando 1. Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! ...but to be honest, (just like my daughter), I like all of them (for example Take a Chance on Me is just such a great song), and back in the 80s when it was released for the first time the Rolling Stone Magazine summed it up for me...: "...there are more infectious melodies, grabby hooks, and danceable drum beats on one side of this two-disc set than in most artists' entire catalogs... Amen... (and yes, i am old)
  2. I had this today in my inbox, and thought its pretty funny... This was written by a guy... it's pretty damn smart. Girls -- Have a sense of humour! I never quite figured out why the sexual urge of men and women diffe so much. And I never have figured out the whole Venus and Mars thing.I have never figured out why men think with their head and women with their heart. FOR EXAMPLE: One evening last week, my girlfriend and I were getting into bed. Well, the passion starts to heat up, and she eventually says, "I don't feel like it, I just want you to hold me." I said, "WHAT??!! What was that?!" So she says the words that every boyfriend on the planet dreads to hear... "You're just not in touch with my emotional needs as a woman enough for me to satisfy your physical needs as a man." She responded to my puzzled look by saying, "Can't you just love me for who I am and not what I do for you in the bedroom?" Realizing that nothing was going to happen that night, I went to sleep. The very next day I opted to take the day off of work to spend time with her. We went out to a nice lunch and then went shopping at a big, big unnamed department store. I walked around with her while she tried on several different very expensive outfits. She couldn't decide which one to take, so I told her we'd just buy them all. She wanted new shoes to compliment her new clothes, so I said, "Lets get a pair for each outfit." We went on to the jewellery department where she picked out a pair of diamond earrings. Let me tell you... she was so excited. She must have thought I was one wave short of a shipwreck. I started to think she was testing me because she asked for a tennis bracelet when she doesn't even know how to play tennis. I think I threw her for a loop when I said, "That's fine, honey." She was almost nearing sexual satisfaction from all of the excitement. Smiling with excited anticipation, she finally said, "I think this is all dear, let's go to the cashier." I could hardly contain myself when I blurted out, "No honey, I don't feel like it." Her face just went completely blank as her jaw dropped with a baffled, "WHAT?" I then said, "Honey! I just want you to HOLD this stuff for a while. You're just not in touch with my financial needs as a man enough for me to satisfy your shopping needs as a woman." And just when she had this look like she was going to kill me, I added, "Why can't you just love me for who I am and not for the things I buy you?" Apparently I'm not having sex tonight either....but at least that girl knows I'm smarter than her. Alright girls. Repost this if you agree. Hell even if you disagree, forward it. Men, repost this because you have balls.
  3. Here we have a post card from a P.O.W Camp in Halstead Essex, the Camps name is Hasford Lodge. It must be a friend (comrade?) from my grandpa that is still a P.O.W in England while my grandpa is already at home (he was a P.O.W in the USA). The postal system must be fairly ok at the time, because at the back it says, "got your letter from the 18th September" and this one is dated 29th of September... Other then that he only asks if he (my grandpa) already got married... This letter was a bit surprising, because i wasn
  4. I recently discovered some old stuff from my grandpa (who passed away about 10 years ago) in the attic. It is mostly photographs, postcards and war related documents from 1932 to 1948. I thought i share some images i scanned today over the next few weeks in my personal series "WWII Memories". The first image i scanned today is actually rather unspectacular. A simple postcard from end of January 1944. From someone unknown to me (Dr.med. Elisabeth Obladen) to my grandma. It is stamped in Stuttgart (strange enough it says Stuttgart - Stadt der Auslandsdeutschen) (something like Stuttgart - City of the foreign born Germans) The stamp itself shows an image of Adolf Hitler and it looks like it cost back then 6 Reichspfennige? Next to it is another stamp which says "Nahrung ist Waffe" (Food is a weapon?). At the bottom left there is another imprint "Der F
  5. Currently H&M`s summer collection is heavely advertised in german/austrian television (anywhere else too?), and it is a beautiful ad. Striking good looking women lying on the beach relaxing to the tune of a song that sounds just wonderful. This song is "Just cant get enough" from Depeche Mode, but in a very relaxing version of Nathan Larson. (you can download the mp3 version on the HM site just wait a bit scroll to the right and wait till download link appears.). Now i wanted to check out the original version from Depeche Mode on Youtube and indeed there it was. And i was thinking OMG; once i was dressed sort of like that too... Although it was like 100 years ago...
  6. China has the most sophisticated and effective Internet censorship regime in the world, employing North American technology from Cisco Systems Inc. and Canada's Nortel Networks Corp., among others, to filter out banned material. But China is just one of a growing number of states censoring the Internet, using primarily American filtering programs. But the computer smarts of Ron Deibert, Nart Villeneuve, and Michael Hull, combined with their passion for politics and free expression, have led them to develop a highly anticipated software program that allows Internet users inside China and other countries, such as Iran, Saudi Arabia and Burma, to get around repressive censorship and not get caught. more at Toronto Star

    Abbey Road

Yesterday I found by accident an old Vinyl of mine in the basement. I had all forgotten about it. The last album from the Beatles. "Abbey Road" After listening to it for basically the whole of yesterday and today, i have to say. It sounds fresh, vibrant and you can hear at every tune that this is a true master piece. The ending medley espcially Golden Slumber/Carry that Weight/The End is probably one of the best pieces of music ever made. It includes features never heard before by the beatles, rough guitar riffs, one of the few songs to feature harmony vocals from all four Beatles and the only ever drum solo by Ringo Starr... I am all in love again with the Beatles...

  9. Similar to distributed super computers such as the SETI @ Home project, the BBC along with a bunch of Universities and the MET office call on users to help predict weather patterns. I dowloaded it and it looks pretty interesting... Take part in the biggest climate experiment ever undertaken
  10. Johann who? ...you might ask, well he was a great baroque composer and his Canon in D is well known and very often played, a classic so to speak... Now take Johann Pachelbel`s work Canon in D and add a brilliant taiwanese with a hot electric guitar and you get that! i only say WOW regards viggen
  11. This is a list in progress of color laser printer models that do or do not print yellow tracking dots on their output. Remember that a "no" simply means that we couldn't see yellow dots; it does not prove that there is no forensic watermarking present. (For example, the HP Color LaserJET 8500 series does not include any yellow tracking dots that we can see, but it may still include some kind of forensic marking, since the majority of earlier CLJ models did.) Remember that a "yes" simply means that we (or another source, as noted) saw yellow dots that appeared anomalous to us. Until we decipher the marking schemes or receive other confirmation, this does not constitute proof that any particular kind of information is represented by these dots. In a very few cases, for example, they might be the result of a poor dithering technique, rather than a forensic mark. the list of printers that track your printing can be seen at Electronic Frontier Foundation

    Psp Virus

Well this is new to me, a virus for a handheld game console! The PSP (PlayStationPortable) has now its very own Virus/Trojan called Trojan.PSPBrick, which once installed deletes very important system files and won`t start again and is then as usefull as a brick hence the name of the Virus. More info about the Virus are availabe at Symantec
  13. Well, eventually a usefull invention! A beer mat that knows when a glass is nearly empty and automatically asks for a refill has been created by thirsty researchers in Germany. Andreas Butz at the University of Munich and Michael Schmitz from Saarland University came up with the idea while out drinking with their students. full article at New Scientist
  14. Well at least it could be the end for the Banana we (Europe/North America) know....

End Of World On June 1, 2014

Scared-stiff astronomers have detected a mysterious mass they've dubbed a "chaos cloud" that dissolves everything in its path, including comets, asteroids, planets and entire stars -- and it's headed directly toward Earth! Discovered April 6 by NASA's Chandra X-ray Observatory, the swirling, 10 million-mile- wide cosmic dust cloud has been likened to an "acid nebula" and is hurtling toward us at close to the speed of light -- making its estimated time of arrival 9:15 a.m. EDT on June 1, 2014. full article at Weekly World News Great, so no fishing season in 2014 for me
