Take a look at THIS interview with Fedor, it goes a long way to backing up what you say about the integrity of the guy.

I totally agree with you, a great fighter and a genuine guy.

Gaius Paulinus:

Thank you for the excellent link. I don't have a deep understanding of MMA and I certainly don't have any understanding of the politics. (My only personal involvement with the martial arts is when I served as the throwing dummy for my University's Judo club. I was never any good, but I did learn how to fall without breaking my wrists.)

The following is a video of Fedor in Japan fighting the Korean Hong Man Choi, a giant of a man (literally). Fedor is 6'0", 230 lbs. Hong is 7'2", 330-360 lbs. This video makes me think of the spectacles in the colosseum. The contests must have been bizarre, bloody, brutal, but fascinating.

How little things have changed.

Note Hong's face at 1:50 of the clip. One can see the sheer terror. The Japanese announcer is a real freak. The crowd's excitement is frightening.

P.S.: I think it should be mandatory for the fighters to wear head protectors.

Hopefully I'll be backing up my brother GPM when I say that Fedor is a class act...a gent in a world full of mongrels! I've seen that Hong fight before, and him being over 7ft tall is just a disadvantage...if I was Hong's trainer I would've thrown in the towel and taking my boy(!) home before he got humiliated! If this had taken place in the Collosseum, the spectators would've recognised it for the farce that it was!

I reckon Fedor should have a crack at the Heavyweight title. Credibility isnt a problem for him. Whaddya reckon?

Here is the best Fedor highlight.

Every single Fedor fight. http://www.sherdog.net/forums/f44/all-fedors-fights-998451/

Fedor's next fight will be on CBS November 7. He is fighting undefeated Brett Rodgers.

Rodgers on Fedor. http://mmasportsreport.com/649/brett-rodge...get-knocked-out

^^

I find it really baffling that he's about to face the best fighter in the world and he's only seen 1 Fedor fight from start to finish? Doesn't he want to analyze fedor and his tendencies and to see how he can exploit them? I mean, this is easily his biggest fight opportunity of his career and it seems as though that he's way too nonchalant about it, and to not take advantage of the massive library of Fedor's fights seems to be a bit disadvantageous to the worst degree.

I'm sure it's just a bit of reverse psychology on Rogers part, trying to make out that he's not the slightest bit bothered or concerned about Fedors talent and reputation. But you can bet your life that he's studied every single little bit piece of footage Emelianenko's fights he can get his hands on, if he hasn't then he's either plain stupid or unbelievably rock hard!!

I agree. Hopefully when Fedor is done with his 3 fight M1/Strikeforce contract he joins the ufc and fights Brock Lesnar. I really don't like this Lesnar guy. Did you see what he did after UFC 100? Terrible. After he beat Mir he ran around the ring and flicked off the fans. He also got in Mir's face after he won for no reason after the fight.

This video's audio is not all that good. You need to turn in up.

Fedor: Thank you for your passion (and education) about MMA. Most MMA fighters I've seen have a traditional martial arts backgound and show the respect for ones's opponent associated with the martial arts.

Unfortunately, many of the fighters with an American wrestling background are more suited for Studio Wrestling. Lesnar, obviously, is no exception. He looks like a steroid-enhanced jerk who deserves to go down hard.

No problem. Good thread. That Lesnar guy did wrestle in the wwf for a few years. That's why he got a title shot in the UFC with a record of 2-1. He brings in fans from the wwf world. Hopefully Shane Carwin beats Lesnar when they fight. Lesnar sure does act like he has a serious case of roid rage.

Man, that does make this sport look odd that a guy from wwf is now the HW champ for the ufc. He needs to go down hard. Carwin might be the answer.

MMA athletes with a traditional martial arts background bring with them a life philosophy and respect for their opponents. Athletes with the more traditional wrestling background do not. The big exception,of course, is Matt Hughes. Despite his starting as a wrestler, Hughes respects his opponents in the ring. Remember when Hughes castigated Rashad Evans (and later champion) for his disrespectful behavior while competing? Evans was a very accomplished collegiate wrestler before joining the UFC.

Wow. When this fight is on the internet I will provide a link for fellow posters who missed the fight.

HD Version part 1 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=piA36PZEp_k

HD Version part 2 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IkkYkIw5dSc...feature=related

Fedor is probably built like an ancient Roman Gladiator. I had this to say on an MMA site sherdog.net.

Sorry, they put on extra weight because some extra fat would add a little more protection to themselves. The gladiators needed a layer of fat over the muscles as protection from blows and cuts. Looking "ripped" was not functional.

They mostly ate barley, beans and dried fruit. After they won they would probably eat meat for celebration and of course much wine.

OP didn't literally mean that Fedor is conditioned like an ancient Gladiator. What OP meant is that Fedor is like a modern Gladiator. While deaths are almost non-existent in MMA, its extremely brutal and in fact I would argue most MMA fights have more blood and are more violent than the typical Gladiator fight(Iam referring to the point based ones-in some countries like Brazil, they have variations of MMA WHERE THEY FIGHT TO THE DEATH and Die more brutally than the stereotypical Gladiators do!)!
