Think the Romans would have left Massada if it was not of economic value. Judea brought much wealth to the Romans.

 

as far as i know Judaea was not a very rich province and had little economic value to the empire, right?

I've heard the theory that the Coliseum was built purely from the riches taken from Jerusalem when it was sacked by Vespasian and Titus.

 

From the point of view of asset to the empire, it was just one of those vital links on the fringes that had to be controlled, rather than some great economic asset. Most of it is desert or badland.
