The eastern ports of the empire had a mini-boom in trade in the early fifth century, and Bathonea would have been perfectly located to take advantage of this. The problem for those interested in the earlier city is that most of this was probably wiped out by fifth-century developers.

 

But it's going to be another site to watch ...
