True colors of ancient sculptures

Hardly earth-shattering, but museums are working on finding the true color of ancient sculpture.

We're so used to polished marble classical statues it's hard to imagine the Romans painted theirs. The same with funerary monuments, all the original colour weathered away to leave worn stone. Rome had been a colourful place in the past (pun intended) :)
