Pictured above: Rose petals are dropped from the oculus of the Pantheon to celebrate the Pentecost. Firefighters climb to the top of the dome every year and release tens of thousands of red petals, which then flutter down 43 meters into the rotunda. These petals represent the descent of the Holy Spirit.
