It is a Roman alter found during recent excavations at the city of Savatra in central Turkey. The alter is described as being “decorated with the image of a soldier, a military standard being the name of the Aurelia phyle, and a victory wreath. It features a Greek inscription, with translations of the text revealing that the altar was dedicated by Phylarkhos, son of Hermogenes.” “Aurelia phyle” is Greek, not Roman—used in the Roman period to describe a Greek tribal unit named after the Roman Aurelius family.
