Chinese Invented Golf

Recommended Posts

A small piece in the British "Daily Mail" claims golf-like games were invented in China several hundred years prior to its development in Scotland. Illustrations in ancient manuscripts show gentlemen using "golf like " clubs to smite a small ball. This is dissapointing in many ways given the games apparent Mongol heritage , I would have expected a small skull rather than a ball.

Is "golf" really something in which to take pride? I always found it a rather silly excuse for a sport.

It's fun to play ! More social than a lot of sports too I feel.

I forgot to mention that it is also suggested by Chinese folklorists and historians that skiing is also a Chinese invention in response to the biting Bejing winter. Now thats a bit more exciting than whacking a small ball into a rabbit hole.
