Really, Im surprised that the scepter is in that good of shape. Rome is not the dryest place, nor the most geologically stable. Mix that with the very gentle Ostrogoths (giggle), and the re-taking of Rome by Justinian and you've got a very unsuitable place for small, 1700 year old artifacts. Cheers for dumb luck!!!
