Roman Roadway To Lincoln Rediscovered

A survey probing the history beneath Lincoln's two ancient commons has shed new light on the lives of our ancestors. Both West Common and South Common are known to have been used for recreation since Roman times as well as for agriculture in the medieval era.But a geophysical survey carried out by an English Heritage team has now shown that the famous Roman Ermine Street also once ran across South Common.
