December 14, 2007 -- It's a DVR - on steroids.

A new device from SnapStream will record up to 10 TV channels at once and holds a whopping 2,300 hours of programming.

With 1.5 terabytes of storage, the gadget is so powerful, its creators refer to it as an "appliance" like a refrigerator or oven, rather than an audio-video component, like most DVRs or DVD players are considered. It can also search for specific content within each recording and burn it onto a DVD.

Oh yeah, it sells for around $15,000.

Because of the hefty price tag, SnapStream is being marketed to businesses, rather than individuals.

Many times companies pay outside firms to search through programming to find references to their products or executives.

Each search usually costs around $100.
