A member of a pagan forum I frequent asked us to "rewrite" the Ten Commandments as they would be for our beliefs, if we had "commandments". This, of course, was an opportunity that I could not pass up. I have twelve just to be different

It made me think anyay. My Twelve Commandments:

1. Know that there is a Force greater than yourself and it is the Force of all that is. It is the Divine which is everything and without which nothing could exist.

2. If you choose to honor the Gods, honor them well. Love them as family and treat them with respect.

3. Honor and respect those who are your teachers; look to them for advice and give them honesty.

4. Be honest with yourself first, and with others second. Be nothing but honest unless you have just cause to do otherwise.

5. Do not fight unless it is necessary, but when it becomes neccessary to fight, do so with courage.

6. Honor life. Do not take the life of another living being unless it is absolutely necessary, but if you must, do it quickly and cleanly.

7. Stand by your beliefs, and do not allow yourself to be persuaded to stray from them.

8. Know that every choice you make has a consequence. Be prepared to accept the consequences of your actions before taking them, and take responsibility for all that you do.

9. Respect your fellow man's life, family and property. Do not take that which does not belong to you without just cause.

10. Do right by those whom you have wronged, either accidentally or intentionally.

11. Love and respect yourself. Do not allow others to disrespect and abuse you.

12. When you know what it is that you must do, do it without fear.

 , ;) favors the most of this, particularly the part about 'playing with girls'. ;) You will have noted that I am actually leading the way by changing the name of Brooklyn, therefor, I should be Her Royal Imperial Sovereign Majesty, Lizzie the 2's permanent and hereditary Minister of America. As is well known hither abouts and yonder abouts, I am exceptionally well qualified for the position.:D

Basil, Earl of Brookfordshiresexingham

;)

N.B. This was in an earlier thread. ;)

Holy Crap I cannot believe how many replies I got to this entry! LOL I think it's a new record!

I like a lot of Anton Le'Vay's "commandments" however some of them seem a little harsh. If someone is annoying you and won't stop I don't think destruction is really necessary. A swift kick in the balls should suffice. ;)

I explored LaVeyan Satanism before coming to Paganism. Like Nephele I thought those 11 rules made good sense. La Vey basically combined Nietzsche with Rand and added the the theatrics of the Devil concept to make a "new" philosophy of rational hedonism.

Rational hedonism is not such a bad guide to life. There are certainly worse.

I don't like most of the LeVeyans I have met, though. Most of them are pretentious as hell, and if you have an inkling at all toward a belief in deity they think you are insanely stupid.

2 things are wrong with that:

1. If someone is stronger and smarter then you it will probably be a painful experience.

2. What if the person's a woman! ;)

I met one like that. He said in a chat (without knowing my beliefs) something along the lines of "anyone who worships the gods as more than symbols is an idiot". We had it out then, lol. For about a half hour we tried to tear each other an new one. ;) I spoke to him privately later, and we became quite good friends actually.
