note the fit of the extraction pliers over the point. The soldiery were trained not to remove or pull the arrow shafts, they had to wait for the Surgeon to attend to the wound.

Not that it wouldn't hurt like a *&@#, but I'm glad to see the pliers have nice smooth, rounded points. They do considerably less damage going in than oh, say, needlenose :(
