    Hello as for sources , there is a bas-relief in the British Museum, depicting Assyrian cavalry in combat with Arab nomads archers who fight mounted in camel (2 men for each camel). Cheers JP Vieira

    Hello Many thanks to all for your feedback. To answer some questions raised: - these units were probably used as scouts and not as a shock force. - the quiver behind the bow case is for javelins; the arrow quiver is on the other side of the mount, and so is not visible. - i have illustrated other Roman troop types, including a 1st century AD Legionary. for last it is great to know that my work is appreciated and would find buyers whenever is published. I am just starting my career and I hope that in a near future some of my work will be published in book form. Best regards to all JP Vieira

    Hello I am researching about the late roman army. I have done some sketches and illustrations about diferent troop types, including clibanarius like this one.     Hello Many thanks to all for the feedback. This is a legionary from the first half of the 1st century AD. I use the term Marius Mule as a generic designation. I have done some sketches of late roman troops, but it will take some time to complete them. I will post soon a new thread regarding a 3rd century clibanarius. Best regards JP Vieira
